Hello,
I may be wrong, but after a small test with PDF and SVG file formats it looks that there is no way to keep the layer information. In Illustrator all the objects are placed in one layer.
tested with Inkscape0710141822 and Illustrator CS2
The files are attached

I am a new Inkscape user, so please forgive me if this has been discussed before. I have a design I would like to export for others who use Adobe Illustrator, preferably in a way that preserves the layers. Does any such extension exist?
Thanks,
KT
The design in question has a lot of detail and color separations: http://www.threadless.com/submission/137866/Fire_Elemental?streetteam=Keter
