Hi, I'm trying to print a file created with Incscape (Inkscape 0.43+devel, built May 31 2006) but I can't get it to take in account the transparency, either in direct printing, pdf export (or ps either).
I know I can export in bitmap, but sadly my printer has only 2m of memory and I can't print big bitmap files.
Does anyone has a solution (possibly involving another program to print the svg)?
Maybe try Scribus?
Bryce
Just tried with Scribus 1.2.4.1 under Ubuntu Dapper. Scribus messes up all the text objects and don't even recognise transparency (even when I save the file in Inkscape as a compatible svg).
I'm downloading Inkscape 0.44 final (autopackage) but my line is really slow this days. I've read on Inkscape release notes that Inkscape now support pdf export with transparency - has this been solved between my version and the final release (I just spent the whole day on this file and I'm really keen to have it printed :) ) ?
Oh, I didn't notice you were running 0.43. Yeah it's likely that'll fix your problem. If nothing else, you'll be running the latest and greatest code. :-)

0.44 exports in pdf with transparency. Great thanks!
However, it seems text areas marked as transparent aren't exported as transparent - acroread 7 doesn't show them with transparency. Is it the expected behavior?
Inkscape doesn't print with transparency. Is it also a known bug, or is it a system problem (ubuntu Dapper)? Has anyone been able to print with transparency directly from Inkscape?
Thanks, Loïc
