[Inkscape-user] "chisel effect" with filters?

I am using a recent nightly build (and really like the filter effect defaults provided).

One think I can't figure out is how to add an exponent to a blurred layer to make embosses more like chisels. Attached is an example from xara that I am trying to emulate.

Any suggestions from the filter effect gods?
