I have the same problem with the rest of my textures.

I have 0.48.5 on ubuntu 14.04

Known problem with current stable Inkscape (0.48), tracked in - Bug #165780 (sf980785) "Pattern Gaps" https://bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape/+bug/165780

Will be improved for vector-based patterns with the new renderer in the next major release 0.91 (for bitmap-based pattern not yet, see comments 13-18 in https://bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape/+bug/167900 ).
