Just tested on vanilla Ubuntu 16.04. The plus/minus buttons are barely big enough to hit them with a mouse - but the bars are actually filled in completely...

Interesting, looks completely different than what I have (which is - I guess - stock Adwaita), see attachement.
Looks quite clear - but also uses about twice the space :-/
