Hello,
I had recommended Inkscape to a friend who, it turns out, uses Mac OSX 10.4.3 and he had trouble. I thought I'd pass along his response (see below) just in case it's helpful to the developers and just in case someone can pass along a fix. (I use Inkscape on Win XP and have no knowledge of Mac stuff, so my apologies if this is already known.)

Unfortunately, Inkscape doesn't play nice with Mac OSX 10.4.3. It requests that you install something called X11 (a Mac download), but that software will not install because it is out of date vis-a-vis 10.4.3.
