This post reminds me of something: has anyone else had problems with Inkscape ignoring font size settings? There are situations (possibly with commercial Type 1 fonts) where whatever I set the font size to (toolbar or dialog), it is ignored and the text ends up being extremely small. I can't figure it out because it doesn't seem to happen on all fonts. Also, from a usability point of view, I don't think the font size should change when you edit the size in the toolbar until the focus leaves the control or the user hits 'enter'. It appears like it's being changed on key events at the moment.
I'm using the 0.44-4.fc4 rpm, but I've seen it in earlier versions too--I don't remember if they were still of the 0.44 family or not.
Of course, maybe I'm just missing some trick here. Any ideas?

I've been looking over the Text and Font dialog and have a few comments:
- It doesn't make sense to keep the entry window on the Text tab grayed
out and unusable when a new text entry point is designated on the canvas. One should be able to begin to type immediately in the window rather than having to wait until one character is typed with the Text Tool over the canvas. This is probably a source of much confusion.
- It would be useful to put a message such as "No text selected" in the
window on the Text tab instead of leaving the text from the last selected text there.
- The Font Family in the dialog is not updated when text is selected
using the selection tool (it is when text is selected with the text tool).
