How do you get Inkscape to display the canvas so that it looks transparent with checkerboards as in this picture
I would guess you set the canvas to alpha of some value, then export the page to PNG, then display it in gwenview and take a screenshot.
Perhaps there's a better way, a Gimp filter or something.
Else, make your own fake grid in Ink, on the bottom layer.
