[Inkscape-user] Create favicon.ico

I created an SVG file in Inkscape and it looks as I would expect it to, regardless of scale. I export it to PNG so that I can then convert it to ICO using The GIMP. The problem is that the exported PNG file is very pixelated and doesn't look near as good as the SVG file.

I'm new to Inkscape so I'm probably just not exporting it correctly. Can anyone offer some advise for making this work?
