Newer versions of Gtk. Also, we'll be using cairo directly with 0.45 on. I'm not sure what the best answer for running on older distros is; I'm exploring different options, including making LSB packages.

I guess I'll have to carry on with 0.43 until Mandriva 2007 comes out.
I had the same problem with Xandros, so I switched to Kubuntu.
I'd actually prefer to use Xandros for some things, but Inkscape is the single most important application on my machine, and there's no way I'm going to settle for anything but the latest and greatest version.
So I'm hoping Xandros gets its act together and supports Cairo sooner than later.
