Thus, I would like to create a moosaic of A4 or A3 pages from inkscape. Inkscape loads the svg file quite well, and I can scale it to fit the paper I want, but there isn't a simple method (that I know) to fit the SVG file into, say, 3 A4 pages (one in top of the others).
I've been told (haven't used it myself) that the Poster utility from the KDEPrint project can do print tiling with Inkscape's PS output. I'd really love to see such a utility for PDFs too.
