Is there a way to control the default document size in Inkscape? I'd like to be able to open a new document at a certain size, with the grid displayed.
Yes. Save a template document as {prefix}templates/default.svg and it will be used instead.
The prefix is typically /usr/share/inkscape on Linux or [inkscape dir]/share on Windows.
We really need to make it work with ~/.inkscape/templates too...
I found the relevant code in file.cpp and interface.cpp where INKSCAPE_TEMPLATESDIR was used. It looks pretty straight forward. If I was interested in doing this next week, could I just do like I did to extensions using profile_path()? Or is there a better and more abstract way to deal with this situation, since many thing could use this behavior?
