Hi all,
Thanks Jon, for bringing this to the attention of the Inkscape artists.
Here is what we have currently: http://www.svgopen.org/20xx/
The idea is to use the dimensions 850x200 pixel and that the graphics whould fit into the existing color scheme displayed at http://www.svgopen.org/20xx/ - although this is not written in stone and we are certainly open to change the colors. Also, the header graphics should somehow relate to the conference location and theme: California, Silicon valley, SVG, open web graphics.
I would like to add that of course we will try to reward your contribution somehow - we could offer a free conference pass (and dinner event) if you are coming to the conference, as an example.
I'd like to set the website live at http://www.svgopen.org/2009/ by Monday, but if we don't get anything by then, we can certainly exchange the header graphics at a later stage. This wouldn't be a problem.
I'd also like to mention that we hope to have Inkscape contributions at the conference, both from developers but also artists or other content developers.
Thanks a lot, Andreas

Hello all,
I just wanted to put out that SVG Open 2009 is looking for header graphics for their new website... which is about to go live. SVG Open 2008 had a subtle header with outlines of the castles in Nuremberg, so is probably not good for this year's conference in California.
If anyone is interested, this is a great opportunity to showcase both SVG and Inkscape. I believe that the site will be able to serve SVG directly for browsers that support it.
