[Inkscape-user] Inkscape 0.42 on Mac OS X

I can't seem to get Inkscape 0.42 to run on my PowerBook running Mac OS X 10.4.2. If I double-click on Inkscape to launch it, X11 starts up just fine, but Inkscape never starts. If I try to launch Inkscape after X11 is already running, the Inkscape icon appears briefly then disappears on my dock. Any ideas, anyone? Any help is appreciated.
