I created an SVG file in Inkscape and it looks as I would expect it to, regardless of scale. I export it to PNG so that I can then convert it to ICO using The GIMP. The problem is that the exported PNG file is very pixelated and doesn't look near as good as the SVG file.
I'm new to Inkscape so I'm probably just not exporting it correctly. Can anyone offer some advise for making this work?
Thanks, in advance, for your help.

Some things to take into consideration when exporting to PNG are:
* Scale of the image you are exporting.
* The different options when exporting (like resolution, default is 90dpi)
* The scale at which you are looking at the exported image.
PNG images are *raster* images, the images in Inkscape are *vector* images, so when you scale up the vector image inside Inkscape it is smooth all the time all the way to whatever scale you put it. Since PNGs are raster, they have a "fixed" number of pixels, which then as they are scaled up take up more pixels, but pretty much they also scale up the "size" of the pixels, so you en up with pixelated images. If you want a higher scale of your vector graphic to be used in a raster programs such as GIMP or Photoshop, you should export two instances, an original size of your image and a scaled up version, so that the resulting export will be of the actual size (in pixels) and resolution (dpi) you need/want.
