No one is suggesting that your use case should be affected. Users who are happy with how Inkscape is will probably notice only that Inkscape is faster, has more useful node tools and layer grouping modes, and is cleaner and easier to work with in general, affording more screen real estate for drawing.
Actually, Donn Ingle is proposing that Inkscape no longer produce SVG, so he is proposing that many existing use cases will be thrown out.
Nobody here is opposing improvement, we are opposing throwing out the existing user base in pursuit of some theoretical new user base.
Some specific features being proposed are being opposed, but that's on the bases of the specific feature, not a general opposition to change/improvement.
