Errrrrrcchh!! (That's the brakes - left turn ahead!) I'm changing the title, in case this part of the thread goes long.
While I appreciate all the effort by everyone involved, and especially Martin for creating it - I think it's going to be a long row to hoe, to convince forum members to go from a fully featured forum to a minimalistic one.
In all honesty, I'd be one of those who will be hard to convince.
I think you'd have to have:
1 - text editing - bold, italics, underline (could probably live without color, size, font) 2 - ability to insert images into messages 3 - capacity on the server and ability to attach files (many acceptable formats - minimally whatever formats Inkscape supports, plus some standards such as zip, txt, odt, jpg....)
And I'll just echo Patrick on the rest. Naturally text and image links would be needed. Without searching, the forum would be crippled. And of course, moderation. I could come up with minimal moderation features, if it would be helpful.
If the Django forum could have such features, it would be *awesome* because then gallery members don't have to register separately for the forum!
But Martin, if the rest of this little team responds that they are ready to move forward without the InkscapeForum files, it gives you precious little time.
Personally, I'm at the end of my patience. We waited for Courtney for a year, the first time. (Well, at least I did, although I think everyone else gave up long before.) And now it's been at least 3 months on this 2nd try. I guess I've seen you work lightening fast before. But geez! Personally, if the rest of the team is ready, I'm ready now.
All best, brynn
ps - I'm using Reply All, I don't know why it's not putting all the addresses in....argh.

Hi all,
The website is running a bit more quickly than before. I'd like to resubmit the original forum design for consideration:
It could do with a designer to work on the pages.

Hi Guys,
I am a long time inkscape user but I just recently found the forum. Maybe it is just me but isn't it possible for us to include the forum (www.inkscapeforum.com) in one of the main menus of the Inkscape website? (maybe under the option "community" of under the option "learn"?)
There such a rich wealth of knowledge and so many active discussions that I feel like I have rediscovered this application today altogether!
What do you think?
Regards,
