New to inkscape. Read through most of the docs and searched quite a bit before posting.
How do I integrate open clip art and inkscape? OR how does inkscape make use of hte XML that comes with open clip art?
Don't take offense if this I'm covering stuff you already know.
Inkscape is an SVG graphics editor. The SVG file format is simply XML. When you draw a picture in Inkscpae and save it, you can then open it in a text editor and check it out.
If you didn't know this already, then I'll bet you've now tied in how the Open ClipArt Libarary (OCAL) ties in. All the art in OCAL is in the form of SVG files. These files can be opened and edited with Inkscape.
I guess I'm expecting a menu or window to be available in inkscape with thumb nails of all the clip art which I can search based on the XML tags.
That would be cool, but I think the closest thing would be to use the Inkscape Open dialog. As you select a file to be opened, a preview is shown. On Linux Konqueror or Nautilus can display thumbnails of the SVG files. Also, there's a version of OCAL with PNG thumbnails. You can sort by name and see the thumbnails, then open the SVG with Inkscape.
