It was the 64-bit version.

If you are using the 64-bit version, it might be worthwhile to try the 32 bit version instead: for example inkscape-0.91.msi from https://inkscape.org/en/download/windows/

I tried that.

First I uninstalled the 64-bit version.

After my installation of the 32-bit version I get the following error message when I start Inkscape: http://borumat.de/+screenshots/hc-2016.02.23-17_30_43.png
