Hi,
I'm a physicist who is a regular user of inkscape. I've written to the mailing list before to ask about the possibility of increasing the number of tools for technical drawing (snapping, geometric constructions etc.). I was very excited to hear that Maximillian Albert was implementing some of these as part of GSOC 2008, and I've just been trying the latest development snapshot.
As a autodesk/corel user I was expecting tools for things like the 3 point circle, 2 point circle to appear as flyouts for the circle tool (or a seperate icon somewhere), and the tangent/bisector to be a kind of 'snapping constraint' when drawing new shapes that was either on or off.
I'm having trouble understanding how to use these features as inkscape live path effects, and I wondered if anyone could explain how to make them work?
Also, what is the benefit of implementing these as LPE's as opposed to the more usual CAD approach adopted by corel designer 12/X4 or autocad etc?
Many thanks,
Alex
