Tiled Clones Trace Question
Hi,
I'm playing around with the Trace option for tiled clones and I'm having a problem.
I'm creating an 8x8 grid of tiled rectangles overtop of a bitmap (I tried this with a gradient filled rectangle underneath as well). Using the trace tab, i can get the clones to be output based on presence, opacity, and size, but I can't seem to get them to be created based on the underlying object's color as is described here: http://tavmjong.free.fr/INKSCAPE/MANUAL/html/Tiles-Trace.html
I've made sure the base object has an unset fill (which the tooltip and article recommend) but I still can't recreate the example in Tavmjong's guide.
Any clues as to what I'm doing wrong?

Actually, this is very weird. When I check the tiled clones, they DO have the colour that the underlying bitmap image had, but they don't show that colour!? When I click on one of the clones, it shows me a certain colour for fill and stroke, and everything appears to have 100% opacity, but the rectangle clone in question still appears to have it's original stroke and no fill, unchanged. Why would it show me the object has color and full opacity and not show it?
Confused.

You're not working in outline mode are you?

The rectangles weren't in a group by any chance ?

Nope. Just checked. It's in normal mode.

No. Just a rectangle with a solid black border and unset fill. I'm doing this in 0.46 under XP, so I just fired up Inkscape in VMware under Hardy Heron and got the exact same behaviour. The clones all have different fill colours when you look at the fill/stroke dialog or the legend in the bottom left when they're selected, but yet they all just show the black border and no fill.
RQ
Try setting both the fill and outline to unset.

Just did that. Still when I create the clones (they all get created even though they're not visible) and they don't show up with any fill on screen. Yet when I window them to select one, it shows that it has the color of the image in that area for both the fill and stroke and full opacity, yet it's invisible on screen.
Have you tried it on your end to see if I'm imagining things? :)

I'm using .46 devel june 19 on XP and it works fine for me. (Just tried)
