There is a more comprehensive read me file included with the download, which will help to decide whether to test it.
Thanks

Thank you!
Just as an idea, maybe you could be a little more verbose in your description?
Would make it easier to decide wether to download and install your extension.

Yes, I understand.
It is a small thing to download, and unpack.
Enjoy!

Agreed about the descriptive text.
With many many extensions out there, I generally don't bother installing anything without a proper description on the download page. This also helps make a distinction between your guides extension, and others out there.
Here is some descriptive text I've made after using your extension:
***** Create guides quickly at any angle with incremented x,y, and even incremented steps in degrees!
Shows up under: Extensions > Custom > Guides... *****
Also, You may want to add this License and Install information to your readme:
***** License: GPL2
Installation -----------------
Put the .inx file and .py file in ~/.config/inkscape/extensions/ and restart inkscape.
For global installation place in /usr/share/inkscape/extensions (on gentoo, your distro may vary)
For MS place in \Inkscape\share\extensions\
Extension appears under Extensions > Render > Guides Creator... *****

To add guides... to the Render group, change line 42 of the guides.inx file. Replace 'Custom' with 'Render' so that the whole line reads <submenu _name="Render"/>.
If you want guides... to appear alongside Guides creator... in the Render menu, you will also need to capitailze its name on line 7, so that it reads <_name>Guides</_name>

Thanks for the tip, but I mean mix the functionality of your extension with the Guides Creator. There is a lot of functionality overlap, and I'd like to see the Guides Creator modified to include your additions. I think putting "Guides..." in Render would be confusing alongside Guides Creator. They are both guides creators. :)

Although it sounds, ugajin, like you have finished working on the extension and need a little rest before doing anything quite that energetic. So mull it over and if you'd like the extension features included into every inkscape we ship, then a merge will be a prerequisite.
Martin,
I hope to never turn out a frenkenscience repo. So guides... won't ship.
The soon to be released update version, provides a few minor adjustments, and improvements including a fresh UI.

Martin was being silly when saying "frankenscience" repo. Indeed, that's not what I want.
There is already a guides extension that ships with Inkscape that has most of the features of yours. Your code could be used as part of this existing extension as a staple tool of Inkscape and not yet one more extension that will eventually be lost in the sea of Inkscape extensions.
There's an opportunity here to patch the existing extension to add your new features to it. It's up to you though.

Are you not trying to merge chalk and cheese?
I fully get that you don't want to add a 'whole new one'. It (Guides creator...) is what it is, which is a static layout tool, based on compositional theory. I do not want to change it, I like it the way it is, and if as a result, guides... doesn't ship, then I will live with that. I would prefer that outcome, to a 'Frankenscience' disaster, and I believe that trying to develop Guides creator... will turn out to be nightmare.
Do you know the one about the man, who asks for directions? He got the reply, 'Well, if I were you, I wouldn't start from here.'?
BTW, I have been road testing another exciting new feature for the guides... extension. I think you will like it.

I feel I should say that the plugin is great as-is as well, and I'll continue to enjoy using it, regardless of if it gets included in the current extensions set that ships with Inkscape (most don't, and it takes a lot of consensus to get new ones added, which is why I suggested some of the compatible features might be merged).
I hope you don't mind my suggestions. It's mainly that the current guides extension that ships is lacking, especially in the diagonal guides tab, which your plugin features ample (and enviable) controls. I may go in myself and add some of the missing features to the existing extension for consideration.
I'll work up a few UI flow diagrams, and see if I can produce something reasonable.
Thanks again for your work. -C

Actually, you haven't identified which features you think are compatible. FWIW, the diagonal tab, is linked to a theory called the Diagonal method.
The new feature that I have been road testing, handles perpendicular guides. in a simpler method, but one not disimislar to Guides creator... It should be ready to upload later this week, perhaps by Wednesday. It still won't replace Guides creator (in my opinion), as it does not care about, diagonal theory, page margins, or the golden section.

Sounds cool. I have not looked at the extension code yet. I've just noticed that the guide creator is lacking a lot of options for diagonal guides. It's possible implementing them is completely unrelated to what you're doing on the back-end of your plugin.
At any rate, I look forward to trying out your modifications to your current plugin.
Thanks again. :)

I beleive the diagonal options for Jonas Termeau's extension are based on the Diagonal Method theory.

I fully get that you don't want to add a 'whole new one'. It (Guides creator...) is what it is, which is a static layout tool, based on compositional theory. I do not want to change it, I like it the way it is, and if as a result, guides... doesn't ship, then I will live with that.
