Hello Inkscapers,
I'm happy to be announcing the next pre-release of Inkscape 0.47. It's a pretty cool job to do. We're hoping that this is the FINAL pre-release of Inkscape, so make sure it doesn't crash for you as the final version is likely to be VERY SIMILAR to this one. There's a great set of patches from a variety of contributors, make sure to check them out!
I couldn't figure out how to get Sourceforge to make a new releases anymore, and they took away the ability to make directories from SFTP; so I put things up at Launchpad. If someone can figure out Sourceforge, we can put them there as well.

I have added a 0.47pre3 SourceForge release directory and uploaded your files from Launchpad.
Here is the page that gives instructions for working with the new SourceForge File Release System via shell access, web interface, etc: https://sourceforge.net/apps/trac/sourceforge/wiki/Release%20files%20for%20d...

Cool, thanks!

Yeah, really don't get that. My web browser has a menu of it's own on right click. It doesn't send that to the webpage at all... I think that's fairly standard -- if not it should be. Then again, I don't think websites should be able to respond to arrow keys either. Apparently I'm the only one in the world who uses them for scrolling. :(
I'll end my rant now.
Thanks again, Ted

Okay, the Mac Universal package for Leopard and Snow Leopard is up on SourceForge.
It is 0.47pre3-2 because the first one I built was against pango-1.26.0 which apparently goes into an infinite loop on OS X -- anyone using Inkscape and Macports might want to stay with pango-1.24.5 and not upgrade quite yet. ;-)
Cheers, Michael
Hi,
I was testing the import of cdr files with the newest prerelease 0.47-pre3 on Vista but it doesnt work for me (same on 0.47-pre2).
I get the following error message:
UniConvertor failed:
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "<string>", line 1, in <module>
File "C:\Program Files\Inkscape\python\lib\site-packages\uniconvertor__init__.py", line 72, in <module>
doc = load.load_drawing(sys.argv[1])
File "C:\Program Files\Inkscape\python\lib\site-packages\uniconvertor\app\io\load.py", line 364, in load_drawing
return load_drawing_from_file(file, filename)
File "C:\Program Files\Inkscape\python\lib\site-packages\uniconvertor\app\io\load.py", line 346, in load_drawing_from_file
raise SketchLoadError(_("unrecognised file type"))
app.events.skexceptions.SketchLoadError: unrecognised file type
The last error message is especially strange for me because I'm sure that it is a corel draw file (created with Corel 9 or 10).
I could also provide the cdr file.
Thanks for your help
Wolfgang

could you file this as a bug report (and attach the .cdr file)?
thanks, Alvin
I downloaded Inkscape 0.47 for snow leopard but none of the extensions work. I get the error:
*Inkscape has received additional data from the script executed. The script did not return an error, but this may indicate the results will not be as expected.
The fantastic lxml wrapper for libxml2 is required by inkex.py and therefore this extension. Please download and install the latest version from http://cheeseshop.python.org/pypi/lxml/, or install it through your package manager by a command like: sudo apt-get install python-lxml * How do I install this and what am I installing (I guess from the above it's lxml that needs to be installed)
Having snow leopard inkscape 0.46 will not work so I have to use 0.47 but can't as I need to have pattern along path working (for one)
I have no idea how to install - all I do know is you have to know what you are doing or sudo commands are a bad place to go!!!
Thanks
Gaz

This is a known issue that "is actively being looked into at the moment so that the final release of 0.47 on Mac should have this resolved (we hope)." (to quote from an answer to a similar question on this list a week ago)

In the meantime you could use the Live Path Effect (LPE) 'Pattern along Path' which does the same as the former 'Effects > Generate from Path > Pattern along Path' but allows you to change the skeleton path live on canvas.
Here is the manual page describing it: http://tavmjong.free.fr/INKSCAPE/MANUAL/html/Paths-LivePathEffects.html#Paths-LivePathEffects-PatternAlongPath

Thanks
I shall have a look at the link you gave when my mac has finished its backup (and general sort out of duplicate files LOL)
Thanks again
