Dear Users,
I've just updated the website software to host our About Screen Contest. I'll be running the real contest very shortly, but before then I need your help.
There is a new gallery which should contain all entries to the contest here:
https://inkscape.org/en/gallery/=about-screen-contest/about-test-contes t/
This software update to the website is new, so expect a bug here or there, but please do try and submit an entry. You can submit an old entry or a new entry, it's up to you.
It will: Stop you uploading anything other than svg files, uploading to the wrong category, uploading using the wrong license, uploading the wrong image size (fixed size in the contest rules of 750x625).
If you find any faults with these or other errors, please respond to me here on the mailing list, privately by email or by submitting a bug report to inkscape-web on launchpad.
Thanks a lot!
Best Regards, Martin Owens Webmaster
Awesome!! Thank you, Martin, for getting this ready in time.
So you just need test images? Like draw a quick 750x625 rectangle and a couple of lines? Or do you need the heavy kind of files that a contest entry probably would be?
I can't make a quick test right away.

Browsing to that link, I got Server Error (Inkscape icon with gears flying out).

Hi Martin, I'm not sure if you saw my messages. I uploaded a test image with no problems. However it's not showing in the Test Contest. It's showing in the actual contest page.

Hi Brynn,
that part appears to be fixed with a recent update by Martin.
However, the image Marc uploaded is still not visible, although, according to the admin interface, it's in the gallery.

There's an interesting display thing to do with the url, I've fixed the url issue so you get redirected to the right place, but the url you may have been already redirected will always be wrong.
https://inkscape.org/en/gallery/=about-screen-contest/about-test-contes t/ is correct and will show everyone's entries https://inkscape.org/en/~doctormo/galleries/about-test-contest/%C2%A0is wrong and will show only mine (because the selector limits to doctormo by default)
Thanks Maren :-)

- I'm not sure if we're talking about the same thing:
Marc's entry is missing. It's something with horizontal stripes and 'free culture'. It's public and visible in the main gallery. It's also listed in the 'items' section of the gallery. This one: https://inkscape.org/en/~MarcJeanmougin/%E2%98%85free-culture
Brynn's entry is there.
I never saw one from you, also not in your linked gallery ;-)
Regards, Maren
Thanks Maren :-)

That's because it has the wrong category. So the question is, how did he manage to submit an entry with the wrong category?
It's also got the wrong license and size. So it's interesting.
Maren, can you copy his art and try a couple of things to post it to the contest?

It's easy: copy the art to another gallery, then manipulate there. The changes will carry over to the other gallery. Marc probably had some fun trying to break the site ;-)

That should be mostly fixed now, I've put a stop to copying and moving comes with it's own set of restrictions. There's a few more tests needed in the new resources/tests/test_contests.py to be more rigorous about these rules, but it should be good for this contest.
Thanks Maren!
