Hello,
Most of you already know that I am doing a /sharism/ project called 365 Sketches, in which I present one digital image a day made using free and open source design software called Inkscape. The project is chronicled at both http://365sketches.org and http://facebook.com/365sketches and in other places -- If you've not heard of it, you're included here because I believe you might be interested. (Sharism is discussed here: http://freesouls.cc/essays/07-isaac-mao-sharism.html)
I also recently got the opportunity to present the work as a rotating show (with Charles Viera) at Princeton Public Library (65 Witherspoon, Princeton, NJ), produced by Janie Hermann, and sponsored by the Princeton Arts Council. I gave a talk at the show's opening on the 21st of June to discuss its origins, processes, and reasoning.
http://www.ustream.tv/recorded/8022746 is a new, clean audio recording from the talk synchronized with 160 brisk, clear, fully sized slides from the talk. Try full screen mode for the best effect.
This is also a thank you note. Some of you were kind enough to attend the show opening and talk, some of you were kind enough to suggest it to others, and some of you mentioned that you were sorry to have missed it. Many of you have been so generous as to have purchased sketches from the show. Many of you were mentioned in the talk.
Please share this email or the video with anyone who you think might enjoy it.
You should know that the PPL show is on the second floor, free, will be changing over time, and will be up through the middle of September, 2010. I am showing alongside Charles Viera who I'm proud to share the space with. Charles and I overlap in a lot of fun ways in content and story, but are quite diverse in style and approach.
Special thanks to Janie Hermann and Maria Evans, both of whom made the show possible. Thanks also to all of you for participating, if you have or if you would.
Thanks! John LeMasney
