Hi volks,
Where else should I go if not here? To find out about the professionalism of Inkscape and Gimp I have started a research project called "OpenSource graphics software in the creative media sector". It would make me happy if you spend a few moments to fill in the questionnaire. You find all you need to know at:

On your webpage you state the purpose of this survey is to prove: "I claim that the application in a professional workflow isn't mature compared to proprietary software used in the CMS. The effort for maintaining OSGS exceeds the costs & benefits you could save when using free software."
Since your purpose is anti-Open Source, there seems little reason to help you.

The statement of purpose and hypothesis is quite difficult to understand in any case, but I have to agree with your point Bryce. It's like asking vegetarians to fill our a survey whose purpose is to promote steak and hamburgers. ;)

That's not how I read it. He might be supportive of OS software, and is trying to find out why its not more pervasive. In any event, wouldn't you(we) want to know where and why our OS initiatives fall short? I admit I'd feel more comfortable if I had some assurance that he's making at least an attempt at being neutral.

I'm not particularly worried about his intent (which I'm not really in a position to assess); I'm just concerned that his methodology looks severely flawed.

Hmmm... if his perspective really is anti-oss, well it sucks for him that I didn't read that paragraph. I could care less when it comes to anonymous surveys and what they use them for... so I skipped all the "wordy" junk at the beginning and just filled it out truthfully.
Honestly, if he is anti-OSS, I find this to be a bizarre place to ask. It's almost like going to a church and asking people if they believe in God or not. They're probably there for a reason. :)

Consider that the surveys goal may be a weak attempt at some thing like we, at least in California, saw in the last election. Using fake surveys to promote a campaign view. Maybe Adobe or someone is trying to take this idea commercial. Just a thought.

I started filling up your questionnaire but it does not seem to fit an actual pro. For example, the task you gave is unbelievably simple and I completed it in under a minute in each. while I know both Gimp and Inkscape inside and out, I suspect any graphics professional with experience in photoshop, paintshop, freehand, corel draw or illustrator would find it equally simple. You also write questions like "Imagine you would perfectly know Inkscape/Gimp" - well, I don't need to imagine it so how do I answer such a question? When you raised the question of switching to open source, you did not think of the possibility of using both open source and proprietary software - I, for one, use both. I use Inkscape for icon creation and for creating illustrations for websites, and I use Adobe Illustrator for print. I think most professionals use a large number of tools in their day to day work.
And to top if off, most of the questions are vague, too broad and too subjective. I can't answer questions like that using radio buttons.
