How do I add a color to the "Swatches" panel? I've tried dragging things in, right-clicking on all sorts of things, using the dropper, etc etc but it just doesn't want to happen!
Are the swatches just pre-set and unchangeable?
Thanks!

I do it the old fashioned way...by opening the palette-name.gpl file in a text editor and adding a few more colors then reloading Inkscape. You can find them in /palettes directory.

I linked my Inkscape palette directory to my GIMP one; my local palettes are available in both Inkscape and GIMP.

Hmm....
to be "open source"... sure there is a guy, as soon as you finish coding it on up.
:-)
Seriously, though, check these bugs
https://bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape/+bug/171162 https://bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape/+bug/171169 https://bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape/+bug/171170 https://bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape/+bug/171312 https://bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape/+bug/172161
Short answer: no, the gui is not done yet, but internal structure and external standards have progressed to the point to allow this work to be finished. Check those bugs and see that all the aspects you need are covered.
Thanks.
