Hi, I was wondering if there was a way to do something similar to the clone feature, but between files.
I have several Inkscape files that all share a common "symbol" -- it's a pretty complex symbol, and I'd like changes I make to it to show up in all of the files. This is very similar to the problem that Edit->Clone solves, except that in my case it "spans" multiple files.
Is there any way to accomplish this?
Thanks!

At least with styles it is possible to export them as external CSS (just like HTML), but Inkscape does not support this (but there's an entry for some Google Summer of Code project for it...).
As for real objects, I'm not sure if SVG allows include files. At least to my knowledge, Inkscape does not support it, so you would have to do it manually (at the moment).

Ok, thanks.
One other question: I often find that when I have node snapping turned on, if I zoom *out*, edit a bit, and zoom back in, I sometimes find that the nodes are no longer aligned to gridpoints. Has anybody else noticed this, and if so is there some way to avoid it? It seems like zooming out ought to put you in a situation where your nodes are snapped to the same grid as before, just skipping certain points.

Likely there is indeed something wrong. Snapping is not working flawlessly yet, you know ;-). If you could provide some more details then I'll try to get this bug squashed. For example, which version are you using? You really should try v0.46 (if you're not already using it of course). Next, in which tools are you experiencing this behaviour? Is it in the selector tool or is it when creating a new shape? What snapping modes are turned on, and which selector tool mode is being used (see preferences dialog -> tools ->bounding box). If you could attach a sample file or screenshots, that might also help....
