I had 2 layers, both visable then I renamed them both to something different than layer 1. layer 2. Then I clicked the hide/unhide when i was on the opposite of each layer and then the naming convention returned to Layer 1 and Layer 2
I am using the may 27 autopackage build on ubuntu breezy badger.

Thanks for testing out the latest code! Would you mind making sure there is a bug ticket open on this issue? The layers dialog is very new, so if you have time, please test it out very thoroughly and make sure any issues you find are in our bug tracker. (We may not be able to fix all of them before release, but it's better to know what bugs exist than to not know and find a serious one too late.)
Thanks, Bryce
Update.
I tested the layers a bit more and found that if I have fresh document made in the latest release, the problem did not occur. The document I was having probs with was created in .43. I re-saved my templates with border setups and grids then, no more errors.
Unrelated, but can I make a feature request?
I would love to see grid snaping to the page borders and mid-points of the document. This would save me heaps of time zooming to get the pixel perfect snaping.
I love the new splash in the .44 pre realease too.
Keep up the great work guys.

Excellent. I know this has received attention lately so it's nice to hear confirmation that it's been fixed.

Good idea - please make sure this is recorded in the Request for Features tracker. Also note that snapping may be buggier than usual in 0.44; there's several pretty bad snapping bugs that crept in, but that weren't included as must-fix bugs because we didn't have someone focused on working on them.
