I'm using Inkscape 0.42.2 on Windows XP. For some reason, I can't seem to find the connector tool. In the reference documentation ( http://tavmjong.free.fr/INKSCAPE/MANUAL/html/ch02s01.html) the connector is shown between the gradient tool and the eye dropper tool; however, in the application that I'm using, it's not there. If I go to the inkscape preferences > tools dialog, I cannot find the connector tool either.
Does the tool not exist in this version? If so, which version should I be using?
I've attached a screenshot of my version of inkscape for reference.

It was actually just updated for the new release, 0.43 which we'll be releasing within the next couple days.
Does the tool not exist in this version? If so, which version should I be using?
You are correct that it does not exist in .42. You can grab a .43 pre-release today if you'd like, but as I mentioned above, the final will probably be out within a couple days.
