I am confused with the batch export under the Export
I have 40 images, and select them all and do batch export.
Its exporting the 40 images, but where?
I've done it a few times, and sometimes I have 20 icons on my desktop, all named g....png ( g with a 4 digit number)
And other times, there are no icons..
So where is it saving it?
Ive read the help, but that talks about changing the settings, which you can't, since it's greyed out
Thank you
Hi! I'm from Guatemala, and sorry for my bad english.
The problem is the check on "Batch export 40 selected", remove the check that option. and select "selection" and export normally.

Hi,
I'm trying to perform step 4 in this tutorial. http://inkscapetutorials.blogspot.com/2009/02/make-ubuntu-logo-by-your-own.h...
When I perform the step, it moves the circle that I'm rotating with respect to as well. Is there a way to lock this in place. In other words only rotate the top set of circles (Used for cutting) while leaving the underlying (base / context) circle in place.
TIA, - Ole
If I uncheck that, I just get 1 Image
I want the 40 images.
It randomly puts some on my desktop, but where is the rest..
the progress bar is clearly processing image 1 of 40 , 2 of 40 etc..

if you are on Windows 7, then it is likely that the 40 png files will get saved in your user home directory, namely C:\Users\username\

I am on Windows 8.1 I checked the folder, but did not find anything. Did a global search and not finding anything either.. So, could it be a bug then?

Hi, in my case, Mac os X Mavericks, the batch export saves the images on my home directory: /Users/username/ . In linux should be something as /home/username . If the batch export takes some time, you can run the following command to check what file streams are open by inkscape (at least in linux or mac): $ lsof -p PID where PID is the process id of inkscape (easily obtained from $ ps aux | grep ink ) Hope this helps.

The location for each batch-exported file depends on export hints stored with the individual objects - possibly some of the individual objects had been experted before (individually) to different paths, and any later batch export then will resuse those paths (export hints) stored per object.
See also:
The first one, "Batch export n selected objects", is available if more than one object is selected. If checked, each of the selected objects will be exported into its own file. The name of the file will be the id name for the object (see XML Editor dialog) unless an object has been previously saved with a specific filename, in which case the previous filename will be used (the filename is stored under the export-filename attribute). The resolution will be 90 dpi unless previously saved with a different dpi. Note: Batch export will overwrite files without warning.

Feature request for option to reset (some/all) export hints stored in the current file:
* Bug #411568: Batch export should be more explicit about where it exports stuff https://bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape/+bug/680102
Thank you
I did see that one, that it was using the same file name, if the object was used before under a name. Guess I need to remove the name out of the svg file somehow, in order to use that feature.

I must be doing something wrong!
This is really simple stuff, so I need some basic help.
I've create a few objects, with text in them, an ellipse, with a description. I save them as a .svg file.
When I look at the file, though, I find that they've been converted to .png images and embedded!
How do I stop inkscape doing this? What I'm wanting is to have the objects as <circle>, <rect>, <text> and so forth.
