How to set default fill and stroke for texts?
I'm a new Inkscape user, I'm using it to draw some simple network diagrams.
I seem to have got my text set up so that that default fill is 'None' and the stroke is not 'None'. For the small size text I'm using this produces rather rubbish looking text. I can't work out how to set the defaults back to what they should be.
Clicking the 'Set as default' box in the text pop-up doesn't help, as expected that sets the default font style and size.
Can anyone help?
1 - Type some text and set the fill and stroke as you like it. Leave it selected. 2 - Double-click Text tool icon to open Inkscape Preferences > Tools > Text. 3 - Tick "This tool's own style" option. 4 - Click the "Take from selection" bar. 5 - Done :-)
I think the default is black fill and no stroke, but I'm not positive about that. I hope this helps some anyway.

Yes, thank you, it does. :-)
It's odd that there's no way of directly setting the values in the Inkscape Preferences.
The default can also be set in the Text and Font dialog.

No it can't, this was what I was originally reporting.
I think maybe Josh is referring to the default font, rather than default style?

Indeed I was. I had only seen the response, and was in a hurry and didn't look back at the original message. My bad.
