missing element (graticules) after ps/eps/pdf import into inkscape
Good day everyone,
I'm trying to import a GMT generated map (ps file) into inkscape (so I can add an extra layer and lots of text) but the graticules disappear. The map is attached. It was generated with this command (pscoast -R-180/180/-90/-60 -Js0/-90/1:40000000 -B30g30/g10 -Dc -G200 -P -V > map1.ps).
Once imported into inkscape the graticules disappear. They are, however, still visible in the import window.
Does anyone have an explanation for this and how I can fix it (I'm guessing it is an inkscape problem because they are visible with the gs, pdf viewers), In fact do others see this behaviour ?
regards,
Rob Briggs

Hi Rob, my Inkscape is down at the moment but I looked at your file with Xara and Corel Draw.
I opened it with CD4 and it appeared OK. It is an Antarctica map with the graticule overlying it and numbers around the outer circle?. Xara DP6 could not open it.
I then used DocsPal to convert the file to map1.pdf. Then it opened in both CD4 and Xara.
You will probably have to do some recombining to get back to what you want since the bits are all in one layer at present. However there should be no trouble in adding text to a new layer.
I am using Win XP. Let me know if you want a pdf.
cheers, Erik
confirmed on Windows 7, Inkscape 0.48.3.1. The missing lines appear to be all present in the Inkscape svg file, but they have the properties fill:none and stroke:none so they are invisible. They are visible in other viewers, so this is an Inkscape bug.

I imported your file in inkscape(0.48+devel r11311) and the graticules exist ^^. try change to outline view mode (ctrl+5 two times) and you will see all paths and shapes perfectly , but, exist paths without colors, just apply any color .

Kavar, Alvin, Jonathas,
Thanks for the responses. I did not know about the changing the display mode...and the graticules become visible. I actually fixed it another way, changing the ps to pdf (ps2pdf) then to svg (pdf2svg) I'm running linux. Strange they are visible in ghost view and other viewers.

a default line width of 1 has been set in bzr rev 11364, so the graticules are now visible in Inkscape.
