Is there a way to change the color of the tooltip text? Now it's white on gray and hard to see. I don't see anything in ~/.config/inkscape/preferences.xml that allows this to be changed. Black on gray would be nice.
Specifically where this came up is in the magnify context. Fit selection, drawing and page icons are the same. Tooltips are needed to distinguish the action associated with each icon.
Thank you Carl

Inkscape uses the colors as defined in the global theme for GTK2. Very likely you use latest KDE with Orion as default theme for GTK2 applications?
A workaround would be to change the GTK2 theme; ideally KDE would distribute a fixed default GTK2 theme (not only Inkscape is affected, other GTK2 apps like GIMP have the same kind of barely readable tooltips).
I closed a related bug report filed earlier for Inkscape for the same reason - not an Inkscape bug (nor anything to be fixed in Inkscape):
Bug #1470156 “Tooltips are blank in Kubuntu/Plasma5 with Orion (GTK2)” https://bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape/+bug/1470156

Latest KDE Plasma 5 has 2 choices - Adwaita (default) and Raleigh. Raleigh has dark text on gray background, so it's readable. Otherwise it's kinda ugly.
So I went in search of a nice looking theme through the System Settings > Application Style selection for GTK. Some of the themes look great; they don't install so well (might be because I don't know what I'm doing). I finally found one that installed easily, looks nice, and has readable tooltips (Pearl).
Thank you for helping fix this.
Carl
