I expect that the problem with this is that, depending on your document's scale, this might end up throwing all the information away. What if your document contains "0.197509,0.18033 C 0.20842,0.17119 0.2439,0.17525", and all your points are between 0.00000 and 0.99999? I thought of this myself a couple of weeks ago, but it isn't as simple as it might seem.
