2020-07-23 00-47-39 PDT Martin Owens You want to mirror media.inkscape.org or alpha.inkscape.org? 2020-07-23 02-11-11 PDT Martin Owens You can CC doctormo(a)geek-2.com if you think the email isn't getting to me. 2020-07-01 08-19-57 PDT Martin Owens Oh wow, I love physical events. I do "learn to teach, teach to learn" here in Boston, USA. For teenagers. It's a lot of fun. 2020-07-23 02-27-22 PDT Martin Owens If the sun explode.. this is technically an end ;-) 2020-07-01 08-14-51 PDT Martin Owens Rizky Djati Munggaran? 2020-07-01 08-25-45 PDT Martin Owens This is good to know. Probably already have all the channels needed to chat about things. But we can also make rocket chat live channel too. 2020-07-23 02-17-43 PDT Martin Owens How are things going in Indonesia? 2020-07-23 00-47-11 PDT Martin Owens Hi 2020-07-23 02-24-06 PDT Martin Owens Boston is better than most places in the USA right now. University is planning on online only for most people. Can eat at restaurants again, but outside. They have added tables and chairs to lots of streets. Which is good thing even if no virus. 2020-07-23 02-10-52 PDT Martin Owens Sure webmaster(a)inkscape.org :-) 2020-07-01 08-12-00 PDT Martin Owens Also, how did your event go, was the Inkscape content good? 2020-07-01 08-15-28 PDT Martin Owens I wish we had more of his works https://inkscape.org/~ridjam/ 2020-07-23 01-41-03 PDT Martin Owens Yes 2020-07-23 02-28-02 PDT Martin Owens I think the USA is focused on not an end, but a middle. Because everything is turning bad right now. 2020-07-23 02-37-00 PDT Martin Owens Our of control virus, secret police, possible breaking democracy. 2021 will either be much better, or much worse. But not the same. 2020-07-01 08-20-49 PDT Martin Owens Should we make Indonesian forum on https://inkscape.org/forums/ ? (we currently have German and English). 2020-07-01 08-05-12 PDT Martin Owens The check will take three weeks :-( but I will let you know when we get a response. 2020-07-01 09-13-02 PDT Martin Owens Agree! 2020-09-30 03-07-22 PDT Martin Owens (from bryce) 2020-02-09 16-16-05 PST Martin Owens (because if it's in the general, the good news is that the vector lists aren't going to stop on this second round) 2020-08-15 13-56-30 PDT Martin Owens *or* 2020-02-09 16-22-17 PST Martin Owens My job is to try and rally those generic bugs more. Focus on those. Maren did a "production ready" walk through and found too many crashes, even in Linux. 2020-02-09 16-41-00 PST Martin Owens I suspect that might be the case. If it comes to never releasing a Mac "finished" release. We may have to contend with that. But at least users will be aware of the quality of the software and we can focus on further recruitment. 2020-02-09 16-21-23 PST Martin Owens Understood. We still have that plan for issuing a Mac 'pre-release' status release so we can get something out the door. 2020-09-30 03-07-16 PDT Martin Owens He's taken over secretarial duties. 2020-02-09 16-43-18 PST Martin Owens Proposed new about screen: 2020-10-10 15-27-09 PDT Martin Owens I think he's asking if you have a blog and documented how you did it. But I don't think you have this, so I would just answer him that you didn't document it. 2020-08-15 13-56-25 PDT Martin Owens Yes, doctormo(a)geek-2.com 2020-02-09 16-02-28 PST Martin Owens Sorry for the confusion, just my abundance of caution about throwing peopel a link they may not have been able to see. 2020-09-30 03-07-06 PDT Martin Owens He's not the leader by the way. 2020-02-09 16-41-47 PST Martin Owens I wonder if there's some tag we can use "inkscape 1.0ahh-it-burns" 2020-02-09 16-45-30 PST Martin Owens Actually can we design something into the Mac package installer (that folder image that's currently the beta/alpha image) that communicates "Look, this isn't going to be great" 2020-09-30 02-08-27 PDT Martin Owens Thanks for backing me up in the developer channel with ted. I am curious, what do you think is going on here (from what you can see) 2021-03-12 05-34-57 PST Martin Owens id_rsa.pub.txt (https://chat.inkscape.org/file-upload/XWJZLoLePFyqzLMn8/id_rsa.pub.txt) 2021-03-12 05-35-07 PST Martin Owens Thanks René 2021-03-12 12-36-27 PST Martin Owens In body and mind, but my soul is somewhere else 2021-03-12 12-37-15 PST Martin Owens don 2021-03-12 12-37-16 PST Martin Owens e 2021-03-12 12-38-23 PST Martin Owens Success 2021-03-12 12-40-56 PST Martin Owens Connected 2021-03-12 12-42-07 PST Martin Owens Understood, I'll have a play with it, probably just install Inkscape binaries rather than compile things. 2021-03-12 12-42-18 PST Martin Owens (but maybe compile things if needed) 2021-03-12 12-42-22 PST Martin Owens Thank you so much 2021-03-12 12-48-22 PST Martin Owens Woot, got `Remmina` to log in without me having to boot up a separate ssh client. 2021-03-12 12-49-43 PST Martin Owens I used it to work on a Nasa project, got to keep all the export controlled files off my computer 2021-03-12 12-51-25 PST Martin Owens Same for them, you couldn't VNC to their machines without a dongle and a lot of passcodes. 2021-03-12 12-52-48 PST Martin Owens Yes 2021-03-12 12-53-30 PST Martin Owens Nah, had it installed already, just needed to remember where all the values go. 2021-03-26 16-30-53 PDT Martin Owens :thumbsup: 2021-04-17 06-31-59 PDT Martin Owens What do you think of this problem of endorsing or listing or etc, contributors? 2021-04-17 07-56-13 PDT Martin Owens Thanks René 2021-04-17 07-56-22 PDT Martin Owens (this is why you'd be good on the board :-D) 2021-04-17 08-07-57 PDT Martin Owens Perhaps we can save this for a meeting time, it's a good set of ideas which perhaps we need a breather before coming back. 2021-04-17 09-01-36 PDT Martin Owens Nah it's ok. I saw the smoldering embers sparking back into life. 2021-04-17 09-01-45 PDT Martin Owens Good to get your say out there. 2021-04-22 10-37-43 PDT Martin Owens Looks like `sirius` is down, so no windows for me today. Is is a temp machine? 2021-04-22 10-40-41 PDT Martin Owens Ah no problem. 2021-04-22 10-58-33 PDT Martin Owens I did get lots of use out of it, thank you! 2021-04-22 10-58-53 PDT Martin Owens Instead I will lean on windows users :-D 2020-02-09 16-21-36 PST Martin Owens Mac: IT ALMOST WORKS! 2020-09-30 03-08-47 PDT Martin Owens You'll find it funny but ted sees the board as NOT leaders. Doesn't want the board to be seen as leaders. I tried to explain that this isn't really possible, people will always see us as a leadership. 2020-08-15 13-57-13 PDT Martin Owens geek-2 for my friends :-D 2020-02-09 16-03-31 PST Martin Owens No problem. How goes the Mac release? 2020-02-09 16-43-41 PST Martin Owens Screenshot from 2020-02-09 19-43-01.png (https://chat.inkscape.org/file-upload/jXvd2beKuM62iZzC7/Screenshot%20from%2…) 2020-09-30 03-08-01 PDT Martin Owens Yes he is :-) one of the founders of Inkscape too, so people have been shy about asking hard questions. But honestly I'm kind of finished waiting. 2020-02-09 16-01-57 PST Martin Owens But I know the board project has got a lot of controls switched on about who can see what. 2020-09-30 03-17-48 PDT Martin Owens It's old fashioned. 2020-02-09 16-50-56 PST Martin Owens I agree. Knowing that open source projects are in trouble, could attract the right sort of pressure. 2020-02-09 16-01-32 PST Martin Owens Oh good. I don't think it is supposed to be private (you can't see any personal information in there can you) 2020-02-09 16-21-42 PST Martin Owens ;-) 2020-08-15 13-57-17 PDT Martin Owens (it's newer) 2020-09-30 03-08-57 PDT Martin Owens And my point is that we should start acting like it 2020-02-09 16-15-43 PST Martin Owens Mac specific issues or your general sense is that Inkscape itself has too many flaws? 2020-02-09 16-23-17 PST Martin Owens So after we've tackled the vector bug lists we'll probably put out a call to users to grind the app down in real world uses. I would include a Mac RC in that if possible. 2020-09-30 03-06-29 PDT René de Hesselle I can only guess that these are topics he isn't comfortable with and I understand now what you mean when you are saying you're feeling blocked (I've watched your video about funded development) at every turn. 2020-10-10 15-19-08 PDT René de Hesselle Thanks for the various mentions on Twitter. I don't want to make a fool of myself on Twitter by not having understood the conversation: is Bruno Winck's question "Did you share on the process, how you implemented it?" directed at me? Is he asking if my work is publicly available? 2020-09-30 03-02-42 PDT René de Hesselle I was boiling. I had to rewrite 5 times what I was going to say to take out the heat and anger. 2020-09-30 03-07-45 PDT René de Hesselle (It think of the board as leaders in a general way) 2020-02-09 16-01-49 PST René de Hesselle Ah, did I misunderstand that? 2020-09-30 03-17-17 PDT René de Hesselle This "incident" is now the second time (I haven't taken notes on what the first occasion was) that I thought to myself "open source but close minded". 2020-02-09 16-10-29 PST René de Hesselle There is a small light at the end of the tunnel as we maybe fixed one of the blockers, but it's not safe yet. A few people confirmed the fix but Thomas says he can still reproduce the issue. So here's to hoping.
But everything else is pretty much unchanged and I think there are still too many serious issues (ontop on anything that you guys are currently fixing / Vectors' blocker list). 2020-09-30 03-07-28 PDT René de Hesselle I meant that as in "member of the board" (he is on the board right?) 2020-08-15 13-56-47 PDT René de Hesselle I don't mind, which one do you prefer? 2020-02-09 16-46-37 PST René de Hesselle :laughing: Might actually be a very good idea to use that kind of humor together with a serious message about the state of things. 2020-02-09 16-42-33 PST René de Hesselle We might not like it if that happens (myself included), but it's about the message we want to send out. 2020-02-09 16-48-03 PST René de Hesselle I don't want to sound like a tele-marketer, but if we get that right, it'll create the right kind of buzz and attention we need 2020-09-30 03-05-26 PDT René de Hesselle And I still disagree. I know that there has to be some order in regards to meetings, but the way he communicated it... if he really feels/thinks this way, he is not qualified to take a leadership position. 2021-01-18 02-24-05 PST René de Hesselle [ ](https://chat.inkscape.org/channel/team_devel?msg=HfXf5NeDHZCoG3ETz) Sadly I can only pull off this magic trick once ;-) () 2021-01-18 02-29-38 PST René de Hesselle Ooops, this ended up here by mistake 2021-02-11 17-46-09 PST René de Hesselle I'm new to #general but I believe user "lulmamanxii" is begging to be silenced because of inappropriate language. Also check profile "F... yo b...". 2021-03-11 16-50-21 PST René de Hesselle Please send me a ssh public key to dehesselle(a)web.de as you will be using RDP over SSH. 2021-03-12 10-57-56 PST René de Hesselle You login will be ready in 2-3 hours. I'll message you here. 2021-03-12 12-36-08 PST René de Hesselle You here? 2021-03-12 12-36-46 PST René de Hesselle Add this to your `.ssh/config`:
```
Host sirius
HostName v2202010130414128487.supersrv.de
Port 57921
User doctormo
LocalForward 13389 localhost:3389
``` 2021-03-12 12-37-38 PST René de Hesselle if the pub key you gave me is a special one (i.e. not your default one, you need to add the private part as `IdentityFile`) 2021-03-12 12-37-46 PST René de Hesselle Ok try to `ssh sirius` 2021-03-12 12-38-40 PST René de Hesselle Nice. Now fire up your RDP client of choice and use `localhost:13389` to connect 2021-03-12 12-38-53 PST René de Hesselle Your Windows user is `doctormo` and password is `start123`. 2021-03-12 12-41-05 PST René de Hesselle You can do what you want, the server is up 24/7. In case you reboot, you need to contact me, as the machine does not boot up Windows by default. You can put programs and stuff on there as you like, keep it to drive `E:` . There's lot of space there.
I haven't made you admin, tell me if you need that. 2021-03-12 12-41-57 PST René de Hesselle There is already an msys2 installation there, but I suggest you make your own one on `E:` 2021-03-12 12-42-42 PST René de Hesselle It has 8 or 10 cores and 64 GiB RAM, so plenty of room to compile should that be required 2021-03-12 12-49-18 PST René de Hesselle It always amazes me who many screen sharing / remote support tools exist. This one is new to me. 2021-03-12 12-50-42 PST René de Hesselle I don't trust open RDP connections on a Windows machine, that's why I forced RDP to localhost and use SSH to tunnel to it 2021-03-12 12-52-35 PST René de Hesselle Wait, this is not a seperate thing, Remmina supports RDP over SSH out of the box? (I'm jsut reading the readme) 2021-03-12 12-52-53 PST René de Hesselle Wow thats awesome 2021-03-12 12-53-09 PST René de Hesselle I thought you installed "a Teamviewer" thing 2021-03-12 12-53-30 PST René de Hesselle I'll have to bookmark this! 2021-03-26 15-53-10 PDT René de Hesselle I'm a bit worried: https://gitlab.com/dl2m/inkscape/-/commit/e7b94b9baf94da98a8ee39fd6b90912a2… looks like spam to me, but from an account with maintainer privileges in our project? 2021-03-26 16-29-46 PDT René de Hesselle False alarm, I misunderstood "maintainer" 2021-04-17 06-32-30 PDT René de Hesselle I'm typing something in my vim which will make me unpopular, give me a sec 2021-04-17 07-22-10 PDT René de Hesselle Don't want to post this publicly yet, but this how I would suggest to go about it. 2021-04-17 07-22-19 PDT René de Hesselle As we are volunteer-driven and nobody can tell anybody what to work on, I see no difference between choosing my area of work of my own volition or being motivated by a donation to pick something to work on. The discussion "can an individual donation take something away from Inkscape that otherwise would have been more important to focus on" is and stays entirely theoretical as long as I am free to do what I want. I'm not even obligated to tell if I'm getting paid by someone or not. 2021-04-17 07-22-26 PDT René de Hesselle Best outcome is that Inkscape gains a cool feature that someone else paid for. Worst outcome is the feature does not get accepted by Inkscape official, but that is not and should not be made the projects' problem. (Every feature ever has always had the risk of not being accepted.) 2021-04-17 07-23-04 PDT René de Hesselle 1. Do we as a project want to advertise the fact that people can fund developers directly?
a. As we are still a decentralized project, the project cannot make guarantees for accepting things that people fund individual developers for. This is a risk that the funder and fundee need to talk about prior to their engagement and is their responsibility/liability alone. 2021-04-17 07-23-15 PDT René de Hesselle 2. In order to give it a test run, restrict the possibility to get listed on our page to people who are already contributors so we only have to deal with "known faces" instead of unknowns during the testing phase. 2021-04-17 07-23-24 PDT René de Hesselle (the end) 2021-04-17 07-56-44 PDT René de Hesselle If you think it has the right tone, I'll post it into vectors channel 2021-04-17 08-57-24 PDT René de Hesselle oops, I should've read your reply first. I've just recycled parts of that in a post. 2021-04-22 10-49-48 PDT René de Hesselle (it won't be up 24/7 but it also will not be decommissioned three weeks later ;-) ) 2021-04-22 10-39-20 PDT René de Hesselle I need to look into the history... somewhere I said how long this machine is paid for, give me a sec 2021-04-22 10-40-26 PDT René de Hesselle It was decomissioned end of March 2021-04-22 10-41-18 PDT René de Hesselle I cannot find it here, I believe if we scroll up in the devel channel (I believe it was there where you were looking for something with Windows) we find it there 2021-04-22 10-41-53 PDT René de Hesselle Sorry. I hope you still got some use out of it 2021-04-22 10-42-45 PDT René de Hesselle I can only offer Teamviewer access to Laptop that I don't use regularly, if that helps 2020-09-30 03-11-41 PDT René de Hesselle I find that indeed funny as I would not have expected that. 2020-02-09 16-22-13 PST René de Hesselle That'll do ;-) 2020-02-09 16-42-39 PST René de Hesselle Haha I like the idea about that tag 2020-02-09 16-01-01 PST René de Hesselle (I didn't read it.) 2020-02-09 16-00-54 PST René de Hesselle I can see this issue you linked to in the dev channel and I'm under the impression it's supposed to be private. 2020-02-09 16-03-06 PST René de Hesselle Don't worry. Better safe than sorry. Sorry for the noise! 2020-08-15 13-56-08 PDT René de Hesselle Did I get that right? `doctormo(a)gmail.com`? 2020-02-09 16-01-03 PST René de Hesselle Just to let you know. 2020-02-09 16-39-30 PST René de Hesselle I think I won't block an RC even I think it's too premature to call it that.
Once the time comes to lose the "beta"/"rc"/... labels altogether, at least for the other platforms, that'll be another story. 2020-02-09 16-20-03 PST René de Hesselle macOS specific ones. TBH I'm not really up-to-date on the general quality of the rest, maybe with the exception of the degradation in overall performance. But I'm also not really worried about the other issues because they get more or less the whole team behind them to hunt them down.

PD: I have never had any kind of discussion with this user. () 2020-09-18 11-44-39 PDT Jean Franco Amoni Rodríguez I remade the fork and it was successful. 2020-07-23 15-09-30 PDT Jean Franco Amoni Rodríguez Well. I think we could start tomorrow. 2020-09-18 14-28-31 PDT Jean Franco Amoni Rodríguez In the last few months, Spanish parlants have been copying a English thing and is becoming more and more a trend.
In English there is not something that really differ a verb from an adjetive, "branch", for example, is "rama", but while in Inglish you can say "Branch it", in Spanish this isn't even traducible... Maybe "Enrámalo", but it sounds really marginal aslñfkdjañklsjflñaksgj.
The truth is that currently the meaning of "dinner" (cena) strongly changes when you say "dinnering" (cenando) in a phrase in which that's not the present. You can say "The dinnering" (La cenación), we can't. It's so understandable because our language is extremely flexible, but we can't do something like that. The English translation in something like "Dinnertion".
So currently a lot of non-existent "action-or-effect-of" words are coming out this way: "Eation" (Comisión) (from Eating), "Sleeption" (Durmición) (from Sleeping), "Listention" (of listenning). 2020-09-20 18-19-29 PDT Jean Franco Amoni Rodríguez I didn't understand anyway :disappointed_relieved: :joy: 2020-07-10 19-22-08 PDT Jean Franco Amoni Rodríguez Yes. 2020-10-15 11-55-05 PDT Jean Franco Amoni Rodríguez [ ](https://chat.inkscape.org/direct/doctormo?msg=WGJnfJrv9D6DL8kkj) I know it. And I have the supisius Mc and Tav go similar ways, but with something stopping them for doing some things.
I mean... It appears like you are the only person who "knows" that GitLab has Thumbs Up/Down. It's a mixed script of -x and shell. It allows you to clear old logs and avoid things that -x cannot handle.
For example: All commands after `backtrace full` are ignored if there are no backtraces (error of no stack), even "quit", so if you close Inkscape as usual with `Terminal=true` in the desktop entry, the terminal fails on close dropping you on the gdb prompt.
It also makes the separated Inkscape and Backtrace reports in the user folder and shows you when Inkscape exits correctly or crashing, allowing you to delete the "All right" reports at the end.
I think I will expand the shell script to handle little configurations on its own file.
The manner of use this is just with two fixed scripts in a folder, and executing `gcd inkscapePath -q -x instructionsPath`. 2020-09-18 10-14-44 PDT Jean Franco Amoni Rodríguez I want to try making this process from my local git-clone repository and trought terminal now.

1. What would provoke you getting alive someone's feature?

Your help is invaluable. 2020-09-12 18-34-34 PDT Jean Franco Amoni Rodríguez Hello Nathan! - I want to make a close question to you... I will also ask it to Doctormo in private chat...
Do you think there are toxic people in the Inkscape development team?
I speak about the people that are almost everywhere in the Inkscape project... Starting by people like Myself, Graytomorrow, Teen, or even you (PD: You are incredibly untoxic, you are the milk for the poisoning)...
The point is I can't believe how little comments (maybe just two words in a paragraph of hundred) can be super shocking for people with great intentions, and I would like this type of behaviors be identified to be eradicated.
Maybe I'm being too sentimental or sensitive, but the truth is that I can note very unpolitical speaking around some Inkscape's people. 2020-09-18 10-49-26 PDT Jean Franco Amoni Rodríguez [ ](https://chat.inkscape.org/direct/doctormo?msg=Tv9trPx3PmTH9bFMY) No idea. My own repository of Inkscape allocated on GitLab.
That repository had months outdated and was full of strange issues mirroring from https://gitlab.com/inkscape/inkscape.
So it appears my on-GitLab "edit" of my Merge Request was the cause of the corruption. Because my fork's master was corrupted, as you have described in the quote.
I mean, to make that change I went to https://gitlab.com/inkscape/inkscape/-/blob/master/src/ui/widget/marker-com… and pressed "Edit", what says:_ A new branch will be created in your fork and a new merge request will be started. _
So that new branch in my GitLab's fork was moths (around two) outdated. () 2020-09-18 10-17-13 PDT Jean Franco Amoni Rodríguez Currently not possible.

2019-07-01 12-00-25 PDT Martin Owens Hi there. First take a look at the gitlab bug tracker. We need more developers working on fixing crashes and other release blocking bugs. 2019-07-01 12-01-23 PDT Martin Owens There's two bits, the inbox is a list of submitted bugs that are unsorted so might need some triage and then inkscape bug tracker which has all the sorted bugs. 2019-07-01 11-53-43 PDT Andrew Spada Hey there. It's Andrew Spada, we emailed a bit before. sorry for not reaching out sooner, I spent some days working my way through getting inkscape to compile, then had some family/vacation stuff to attend. anyway, how might i get started helping out around here?

2020-10-19 09-15-19 PDT Martin Owens I'm also raising money to continue the work on the connector tool and I'm looking for sponsors. 2020-08-02 14-30-13 PDT Martin Owens But there are likely tasks i cant see too. People with gcode interest seem to be on the forums and twitter. 2020-08-01 08-24-28 PDT Martin Owens We don't know. There aren't any maintainers for gcode extensions currently. So the best answer is: not without volunteers. 2020-08-01 08-19-30 PDT Martin Owens You're welcome! 2020-08-01 08-32-07 PDT Martin Owens I think it needs recruiting, basically people who are interested being active and trying to encourage all gcode people to come together. 2020-08-02 14-29-34 PDT Martin Owens The first task is self certification. You say to yourself "I am in charge of this" and then you set about using your new authority to find other people and talk to them and see what resources are available. I know a few tasks that are needed: a. Refactoring the code b. Writing many more test cases 2020-08-01 08-23-49 PDT warren do you think that inkscape will in the future be able able to generate code that includes depth of cuts 2020-08-01 08-19-15 PDT warren thank you DOCTORMO the earler version that you sugested 2020-08-01 08-20-25 PDT warren worked fine I am now able to create gcode with this verson. 2020-08-02 06-58-27 PDT warren doctormo I think that understand , but how do you do that. 2020-08-01 08-26-23 PDT warren thanks , I would volunteer but I am a baby at codeing.

Oh well. 2021-01-23 09-44-06 PST Martin Owens Morning Tim, would it be ok if you posted my video to the facebook group this week? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8_tOQjQwjNQ it's a quiet week, I think everyone's de-stressing 2021-01-23 11-19-20 PST Martin Owens Thanks mate! 2021-01-29 07-59-09 PST Martin Owens I think you should add this artist to your list of people to interview: https://twitter.com/artnodes/status/1355149096835715072 they've inspired someone to use Inkscape 2021-02-13 04-07-42 PST Martin Owens @Tim Sure, I could edit it and upload it to the resource itself, ironically providing it to them 2021-02-14 13-13-31 PST Martin Owens Good plan. 2021-02-14 13-21-44 PST Martin Owens I'm ok. 2021-02-14 13-33-23 PST Martin Owens Aw thanks. 2021-02-14 13-40-39 PST Martin Owens True enough 2021-02-13 04-08-43 PST Martin Owens Sure, I was going to remove the sketches too, but anything you got, layer it on me 2021-02-06 10-37-35 PST Martin Owens Could do with some TLC if you can heart https://twitter.com/realdoctormo/status/1358074449107550218 2021-02-06 14-04-46 PST Martin Owens Thanks Tim! :-D 2021-02-06 14-04-51 PST Martin Owens You're a star 2021-02-06 16-34-03 PST Martin Owens I think you posted this to the wrong place Tim 2021-02-14 13-03-48 PST Martin Owens Tim lad, sorry to bother you. I'm a bit angry at Maren's attitude with the welcome screen translations. Just being so bloody rotten about it in the vectors chat. Could you have a look at what's she's written and give me your thoughts on what we should do as a project. I ask because, emotionally, I don't want to do anything that Maren wants, just out of spite (which is wrong, I know) so if you have a spare 5 mins. Only if you have time though :-) 2021-02-14 13-21-51 PST Martin Owens Why do you ask? :-) 2021-02-14 13-26-46 PST Martin Owens No, I'll be honest Tim, I have Maren blocked on rocket chat, and I have since December. Every time she talks to me, I feel like shit and she's not worth the heartache of feeling like I'm being told off for every little thing. Everything from experimenting with weblate, to being laughed at when I tried to open up about the problems in the board, to just a general attitude problem which at first I thought might be because of the whole cultural difference thing, but even if it is, I don't have to put up with being guilted into action all the time. 2021-02-14 13-36-53 PST Martin Owens I think what hurts is that I do actually respect Maren for her contributions. And it's bad when you get to the point where someone has burned their social capital and doesn't realise it. 2021-02-14 13-40-57 PST Martin Owens It's Sunday! Sunday is Fun day! 2021-02-14 13-41-02 PST Martin Owens (also washing day) 2021-02-14 13-42-06 PST Martin Owens I see what you've been doing for Val's day! 2021-02-20 08-11-34 PST Martin Owens The contest ends tomorrow, really excited to see the votes for this one! 2021-02-20 08-14-44 PST Martin Owens I think so, is it on the calendar? 2021-02-20 08-15-22 PST Martin Owens I get one hour warnings for all inkscape calendar entries :-D 2021-02-20 08-16-24 PST Martin Owens Want to know the secret code? 2021-02-20 08-17-51 PST Martin Owens Add `?alarm=-1` to the url of the ical when you add it to your calendar program and it will auto-add a one hour notification to all entries in that calendar. 2021-02-20 08-18-14 PST Martin Owens So for the inkscape calendar it's `https://inkscape.org/cals/inkscape.ics?alarm=-1` but for the vectors one, you'd just add that to the vectors ical link. 2021-02-20 08-20-54 PST Martin Owens Yeah, about 13 years ago there was this web technology that allows calendar and address book entries to be intergrated into a webpage, but no one ended up using them :-/ 2021-02-21 06-42-41 PST Martin Owens @Tim Yes, I actually removed the ability to add attachments to the comments when you edit them (when I added the editing feature) because I felt it was a bit odd to have forum attachments attached to resource comments. 2021-02-21 06-43-26 PST Martin Owens Resource inception! 2021-02-21 06-49-30 PST Martin Owens Screenshot from 2021-02-21 09-49-06.png (https://chat.inkscape.org/file-upload/i7T93B23fdZ4xiWSg/Screenshot%20from%2…) 2021-02-21 06-49-40 PST Martin Owens Just so you can see there's no work in this 2021-02-21 06-50-37 PST Martin Owens I'm having a think about the gift offer, it's very kind of you. Im such a Noob! lol 2020-12-13 13-19-37 PST Tim Jones Hi Martin; (me chasing you for an interview)
Hopefully you've seen the interviews with Sven and Chris?
This should give you an idea of the informal format I'm using.
The premise of the "spotlight" series is, two people having a casual chat about life, the universe and Inkscape! ;-)
The questioning is generally:
A bit about you, the person behind the persona.
How you heard about Inkscape?
How you got involved?
What are you working on at the moment ?
Finally, if you had a magic wand what you would want in Inkscape etc...
It would be really awesome to have some images to display in the Slideshow, this can be anything you have done or been involved with... Photos from hackfests, your art, your patreon image, a screenshot of inkscape code... anything that might be interesting for viewers to look at while we ramble on...
If you can get this to me asap, we can organize an interview date/time.
I would love to get this out before Xmas if possible?
I do understand you are very busy...
The interview is about an hour, I try to record in a single take, I think it is more natural that way... So allowing for a bit of set-up time before we start and a chat after, I would need about 2 hours of your time, if that is ok? 2020-12-13 14-07-02 PST Tim Jones hahahaha.... 2020-12-18 09-38-01 PST Tim Jones Cool, I need to sign up to Patreon... just wanted to let you know, I am still working on the Vectors Hackfest video.
Last week was super busy with my youngest going back to University (Birmingham - reading History). Hopefully get it finished in the next few days...?
Unfortunately Ryan's audio had a lot of latency which is causing some sync issues, when multiple people are talking on camera. ( I'll sort it though 😉)
It might be worth getting presenters to record their own audio streams in Audacity to add in post processing....for future events?
🙂 2021-02-13 04-17-44 PST Tim Jones Yes I'll message him 2020-10-12 15-06-12 PDT Tim Jones 4 videos left to edit... :-) 2020-12-18 09-39-20 PST Tim Jones Its a good idea nice way for people to give back 2021-02-13 04-10-51 PST Tim Jones Can you message Fabien to tell him you upload3ed the un-hidden version? My opinion:
Just use "Welcome"
the text "to Inkscape" is moot really, because the user has just opened Inkscape, they know where they are.
"Welcome" is a just a pleasantry message of greeting, that says it all.
This would render the issue /null and let you move on... ;-) 2021-02-14 13-21-11 PST Tim Jones Hey Martin, just checking, are you OK? 2021-02-14 13-22-40 PST Tim Jones In case you were festering over the "Welcome Gate" issue... :-D 2021-02-14 13-30-48 PST Tim Jones Very true, you shouldn't be guilted into things, especially as she, is making wave to reduce what she does, while still having opinions everywhere!
I try to block her out most of the time, usually needing to count to ten, walk away and come back with a smile...
Don't get disheartened, there is always "one"!
...and remember, I think you are a STAR! :star2: :wink: 2021-02-14 13-40-12 PST Tim Jones Yeah I agree, she can be amazing and really inspiring etc... then she can knock you down with a single sentence... I have taken the line now, where I treat was she says as a challenge.

I've set it for all meetings, i do want to try and attend as many as i can, it helps with understanding what is going on. Some I just can't make but still nice to know when they are etc... 2021-02-21 04-45-41 PST Tim Jones Hi Martin, this is not for action now... just putting it here as a wish list item for next year's competition (and other comps).
Would it be possible to insert a screenshot into my comments to the contestants?
This would be especially useful for the Non-English speakers, to help get across the issues they need to resolve.
Or maybe a dedicated Gallery I could link (them) to an uploaded screenshot of their issue?
When the contest closes, we could remove all the screenshots from that area, ready for the next use case.
Oh! By the way, I've been trying to think of ways to do something for you, in return for the things you have done for me...
Would you be willing to let me create a custom Banner for your YouTube Channel? :-) 2021-02-21 06-48-15 PST Tim Jones Hahaha... Resource Inception, I like that! Lol
What about me creating a YouTube Banner for you?
I feel I should do something for you! 🙂 2021-02-21 06-51-18 PST Tim Jones Or if you have something else you need/want please let me know... ;-) 2021-02-22 08-03-40 PST Tim Jones Hi Martin, it looks like users are still able to edit and re-upload submissions to the contest. When you have time, could you have a look for me please. :-) 2021-02-22 09-39-46 PST Tim Jones Thanks Martin, really appreciate you adding this to your timetable. 👍🙂 2021-02-22 11-30-22 PST Tim Jones back now Martin, ill jump into that test area :thumbsup: 2021-02-23 13-02-27 PST Tim Jones DoctorMo_Youtube_Banner-2560x1440.png (https://chat.inkscape.org/file-upload/HH8APFQ7AHaMB27JZ/DoctorMo_Youtube_Ba…) 2021-02-23 13-02-32 PST Tim Jones Hi Martin, as promised here is your YouTube Banner.
I designed it so that whatever device someone is using, they still see something interesting (hopefully... Lol). 2021-02-23 13-03-05 PST Tim Jones DoctorMO_YouTube_Banner-Master.svg (https://chat.inkscape.org/file-upload/W4gY9MtWmY2zRKbhv/DoctorMO_YouTube_Ba…) 2021-02-24 08-45-38 PST Tim Jones Glad you like it... 🙂
Can I suggest, you use the cartoon version of yourself (from the banner) as the Avatar icon for your channel. Flip it horizontally, to face right. This will make your brand more cohesive.
😉 2021-02-24 08-56-41 PST Tim Jones Screenshot_20210224-165536.png (https://chat.inkscape.org/file-upload/uwZL6iJehQqgQ9RPk/Screenshot_20210224…) 2021-02-24 09-01-41 PST Tim Jones AHH yes, very true...👍
I do like how your branding has come together... 🙂 2021-02-24 09-04-54 PST Tim Jones You will... Regular uploads will get you there eventually, I'm sure of it! 😉👍 2021-02-24 13-53-03 PST Tim Jones Screenshot-20210224215242-1302x677.png (https://chat.inkscape.org/file-upload/QA6h9yk2jbTzSP6bF/Screenshot-20210224…) 2021-02-24 13-53-07 PST Tim Jones Dude... It looks AWESOME!
Chris did an amazing job with the original design...
Just so you know, I adjusted the head and eyes, on your likeness.
So that you are looking out at the viewers.
I think it is more welcoming that way. ;-) 2021-03-03 04-09-22 PST Tim Jones No worries... 👍 2020-10-13 13-41-45 PDT Tim Jones No I have put a screen card up telling people to go watch the video then come back.
I tried contacting the guy about any copyright issues, but not heard back, so thought it safer to just send people off to watch it... 2020-12-18 09-32-12 PST Tim Jones thanks 2020-12-13 13-56-06 PST Tim Jones Thats fine, we can put a disclaimer in the show notes 2020-10-10 08-51-30 PDT Tim Jones Hi Martin, here is the link for the first video "Part One". It is a very important topic and very close to my heart. 2020-01-24 15-27-14 PST Tim Jones I can ask Oz one of the other Admins of FB, I think he would like to be involved more? 2020-12-13 13-54-28 PST Tim Jones Excellent... sounds great! I'm awake now, so let me know 2020-08-19 15-04-08 PDT Martin Owens The text would have to be in gnome format if you want it to have formatting. 2020-11-06 18-53-47 PST Martin Owens Erm, I'm not sure if I've messed up. Let me know. (and sorry proactively) 2020-05-03 08-38-11 PDT Martin Owens Hi! Thanks so much, this is super exciting. So once complete the issue gets assigned to me, glade file attached to issue, and I find the to put it all together. 2020-05-07 01-29-51 PDT Martin Owens We can probably get this iteration in now though. 2020-08-11 15-09-10 PDT Jorge Toledo I'd also add a link to your activity on Gitlab or something like that. People would be blown away about everything you are doing. 2020-11-22 14-34-13 PST Jorge Toledo Not sure if the conversation was of any help :sweat_smile: 2020-08-11 15-07-26 PDT Jorge Toledo Huh, doesn't Patreon allow to follow someone without becoming a Patron? 2020-11-24 15-10-17 PST Jorge Toledo start-screen-graphics.svg (https://chat.inkscape.org/file-upload/P2mBdxCy2GLutTASP/start-screen-graphi…) 2020-11-24 13-22-10 PST Jorge Toledo Great! Should I attach the glade file there? Or to the merge request where we were having the discussion? 2020-08-11 15-17-42 PDT Jorge Toledo Like, two or three goals 2020-08-11 15-16-38 PDT Jorge Toledo Regarding goals, I think you could go for something more general 2020-08-11 15-08-00 PDT Jorge Toledo You talk about tiers in the text. Are you going to define some contribution tiers or some donation goals? 2020-11-22 14-30-39 PST Jorge Toledo I'll put this here, just to keep it somewhere 2020-08-11 15-19-41 PDT Jorge Toledo Aaaand that was a TOTAL BLIND GUESS by me because I dont't know how you make a living :grin: 2020-05-03 04-57-38 PDT Jorge Toledo I'm cleaning "test 6" of the About screen, removing redundant boxes and stuff, addig tooltips, etc. I'm not sure how I can help from here. 2020-11-07 12-21-47 PST Jorge Toledo Oh, it DOES work, actually :grinning: 2020-08-11 15-12-59 PDT Jorge Toledo An interesting reference could be Yorik van Havre, Freecad Arch workbench developer 2020-11-24 13-11-39 PST Jorge Toledo Clipboard - November 24, 2020 10:11 PM (https://chat.inkscape.org/file-upload/3YBGk4MpKRwpWG4Rg/Clipboard%20-%20Nov…) 2020-08-11 15-25-35 PDT Jorge Toledo Time to go to bed for me! I see there's already an interesting debate on your issue about Patreon. I have a very busy week but I'll try to catch up later on everything. 2020-11-07 12-07-18 PST Jorge Toledo Something there has to be linked between the button and the code, but the way I did it doesn't seem to be it :joy: 2020-08-26 14-19-07 PDT Jorge Toledo Thanks, @doctormo! I've been away from the computer for some days, I'll let you know once I get back to it. 2020-05-04 04-07-23 PDT Jorge Toledo Sure, I'll do that. 2020-11-06 15-03-19 PST Jorge Toledo Clipboard - November 7, 2020 12:03 AM (https://chat.inkscape.org/file-upload/kBXdCSNvwWK2tBysS/Clipboard%20-%20Nov…) 2020-11-24 14-48-21 PST Jorge Toledo start-screen-graphics-c.png (https://chat.inkscape.org/file-upload/Hkr6auKACfLCKsimS/start-screen-graphi…) 2020-08-19 11-34-48 PDT Jorge Toledo I'm also not sure if I can add some kind of (HTML?) formatting to the text to make it nicer and easier to read. I still want to look into that but it's not a crucial issue. 2020-05-07 01-31-59 PDT Jorge Toledo I agree. Getting this finished with the basics (no extra debug info, I'd say), and starting a new UX issue for "debug info"? 2020-11-06 15-03-43 PST Jorge Toledo Sorry, I missed your last message on ux#36. I'll take it where I had left it. 2020-11-22 14-35-42 PST Jorge Toledo But ping me if you want to have another look at it together 2020-08-11 15-16-00 PDT Jorge Toledo https://www.patreon.com/prokoudine 2020-11-07 13-00-49 PST Jorge Toledo https://gitlab.com/inkscape/ux/-/issues/36#note_443615667 2020-05-03 05-01-03 PDT Jorge Toledo How should I send this to you? I'm trying to make some light changes to license section of the about screen. 2020-08-11 15-08-14 PDT Jorge Toledo Not sure how that would work out in your case, just wondering 2020-08-19 11-32-59 PDT Jorge Toledo https://gitlab.com/inkscape/ux/-/issues/36#note_399000055 2020-08-11 15-17-29 PDT Jorge Toledo And a goal that would allow you to work PART TIME and then FULL TIME on Inkscape 2020-11-24 15-10-40 PST Jorge Toledo Do you need it in a specific format? That's a document-related setting, not a general one. 2020-08-11 15-13-01 PDT Jorge Toledo https://www.patreon.com/yorikvanhavre 2020-11-24 07-44-24 PST Jorge Toledo One or two hours, probably. I'll try to organize other things to make some place for this. 2020-11-08 05-17-53 PST Jorge Toledo How do you prefer to connect? 2020-08-11 15-13-57 PDT Jorge Toledo But I think he doesn't offer patron tiers like in "more money, you get to see more content" 2020-08-11 15-17-02 PDT Jorge Toledo Like a goal that would allow you to devote EXTRA time to Inkscape and leave some other paid job aside 2020-11-08 03-35-26 PST Jorge Toledo I think in an hour or so I'll be free of interruptions. I'll let you know. From there on, I'll be available anytime. 2020-08-11 15-09-28 PDT Jorge Toledo Like, you are literally everywhere :grin: 2020-08-11 15-06-04 PDT Jorge Toledo Love how the header already highlights a lot of different roles 2020-11-08 10-53-21 PST Jorge Toledo I wanted to post a tweet about this and ended up doing a whole thread 2020-11-24 14-48-48 PST Jorge Toledo Uh, I have to test this against different backgrounds 2020-08-11 15-13-23 PDT Jorge Toledo He mays very (VERY) thorough monthly reports on what he's been doing. 2020-08-11 15-07-30 PDT Jorge Toledo That's strange 2020-05-07 01-19-10 PDT Jorge Toledo Also, is the merge request the right place to continue this debate? Just checking, I'm still not sure about which channels to use. 2020-08-11 15-15-59 PDT Jorge Toledo Alexandre form LGW also has some patronage tiers (but he's a content creator, a different thing) 2020-11-24 06-29-16 PST Jorge Toledo Hi, Martin. What's your timeline for the welcome screen? When would you need the graphics done?

2020-01-31 15-57-04 PST Martin Owens Ah, we are brothers in disunity then and that's not bad advice to be honest. 2020-03-28 11-17-52 PDT Martin Owens Keeping the OverloadGuard in utils is optional, doesn't matter too much since utils isn't a part of the API. 2020-03-28 11-18-28 PDT Martin Owens You would test on every load? 2020-02-02 14-45-36 PST Martin Owens Using a document of many types of objects with lots of group levels and multiple types of transformations. Then attempt to move objects, their children etc. The box should stay around the object as you move it. 2020-03-04 07-22-54 PST Martin Owens That's the tradeoff, although for 1.1 we'd likely fold API changes into deprications. 2020-03-30 12-03-25 PDT Martin Owens Most extension writers are going to copy and paste and most extension writers aren't going to know what _ means anyway. 2020-04-06 21-23-44 PDT Martin Owens :-) 2020-03-31 11-45-53 PDT Martin Owens Hi 2020-03-02 10-35-40 PST Martin Owens The channel is #bug_migration 2020-03-04 07-24-04 PST Martin Owens You should rebase your MR 170 on master so it can be merged. 2020-03-28 10-56-31 PDT Martin Owens Is this a good thing to put into `tests/test_inkex.py` or something similar? 2020-03-02 08-52-39 PST Martin Owens As a firefox user I won't be able to test much. The idea is nice though. GitLab's interface isn't the greatest for joined up downloading. 2020-03-28 12-34-50 PDT Martin Owens Nah the issue is only with `__getitem__` we're in the clear with using only `__setitem__` 2020-03-28 13-16-32 PDT Martin Owens What was the error? 2020-03-28 12-41-55 PDT Martin Owens Yes, works good, python 3.7 2020-03-30 12-12-12 PDT Martin Owens People copy and paste extensions code from each other, so if we exhibit clean code in the core (and tutorials) then extension writers will follow without being too adventurous. 2020-03-28 12-34-55 PDT Martin Owens https://bugs.python.org/issue31968 2020-03-04 07-20-37 PST Martin Owens We got a first casualty of a developer trying to keep up with our API changes Layer vs. Group. We'll have to be careful going into 1.0 I think. 2020-03-30 12-13-23 PDT Martin Owens So Kristian Benoit committed two things directly to master. From email it looks like they're unaware they pushed directly to master. Broke damn near everything. 2020-03-28 13-16-23 PDT Martin Owens Although not sure, I didn't test it on direct file modules. 2020-03-28 12-47-29 PDT Martin Owens Oh right! 2020-04-01 12-20-34 PDT Martin Owens They should be hidden from the menu 2020-02-07 08-44-42 PST Martin Owens In the meantime 2020-03-28 13-21-47 PDT Martin Owens No problem. 2020-01-29 10-51-08 PST Martin Owens Thanks for your help. We've done good. 2020-02-21 16-47-46 PST Martin Owens Good luck with the thesis! I know they can be stressful 2020-04-01 12-20-27 PDT Martin Owens Templates and help links makes sense 2020-03-29 15-26-06 PDT Martin Owens I wish to be as generous as possible to the work and the review. We have two solutions which have a) some problems and b) writers who both /feel/ but can not evident the reason why it's better. This is a reciepe for impasse. 2020-02-02 14-46-48 PST Martin Owens Yes 2020-03-30 12-08-46 PDT Martin Owens Do you know Kristian Benoit 2020-03-29 16-21-12 PDT Martin Owens I've pushed a rename, it removes the underscores and moves `_base.py` to `primitives.py` 2020-04-10 05-43-22 PDT Martin Owens It's waiting for after 1.0 2020-03-28 12-52-52 PDT Martin Owens `__name__` is covered in the example code 2020-03-28 11-20-38 PDT Martin Owens Can be done without testing globals, modules have dictionaries, these can be used without messing with the import. 2020-03-28 11-42-31 PDT Martin Owens So I would move all the import statements into `def setUp(self):` and use an object variable to stoe the state as you go. 2020-04-01 10-10-44 PDT Martin Owens Trying to see if we have bug fixes for extensions that would help the release. 2020-04-01 12-32-15 PDT Martin Owens I agree to a degree, but I'm also aware of the ideal vs. the reality. 2020-01-29 08-34-34 PST Martin Owens Yes, I'm trying to get the constructor stuff done quickly so you can rebase. 2020-01-29 08-39-37 PST Martin Owens Ready 2020-03-28 00-35-11 PDT Martin Owens No same name conflicts? 2020-01-31 15-57-33 PST Martin Owens We could probably produce our own pussy riot. UK music has been getting a bit soft anyway. 2020-03-28 00-45-06 PDT Martin Owens I've pushed a review. It looks good, just a few things to clear up. 2020-03-28 13-17-00 PDT Martin Owens Oh? I'll test locally, hang on 2020-04-01 12-32-37 PDT Martin Owens I will be able to review this properly in a week or so, I'm crushing under a docs upgrade and some paid work. 2020-03-28 11-45-33 PDT Martin Owens I think I see what you're trying to prevent, a sync issues between __init__ and the test. 2020-01-31 16-29-26 PST Martin Owens Aye. There are just some certain days with more content that I want ;-) 2020-03-28 11-43-15 PDT Martin Owens (and convert to a regular test, but I don't know if you know how to write tests, I think yes) 2020-04-01 12-25-47 PDT Martin Owens On review, those hidden flags all make sense. 2020-03-28 13-21-57 PDT Martin Owens Have a good night and hope all is well! 2020-02-02 14-05-57 PST Martin Owens Hello 2020-04-01 12-21-04 PDT Martin Owens embed selected images is run from the right click menu 2020-03-28 01-52-01 PDT Martin Owens You can generate the lists from checking each module's dictionary. 2020-01-31 16-05-42 PST Martin Owens Heh, "make a fuss" 2020-02-07 08-47-09 PST Martin Owens None required, thanks. 2020-02-07 08-41-59 PST Martin Owens Hello 2020-03-29 15-50-24 PDT Martin Owens Merged 2020-03-29 15-44-13 PDT Martin Owens Then I owe you a big appology 2020-03-28 11-36-55 PDT Martin Owens print statements intentional? 2020-03-28 11-40-51 PDT Martin Owens You can use `type(attr).__name__` to get a better print out 2020-01-31 15-51-12 PST Martin Owens What used to be called the UK. 2020-03-28 11-41-12 PDT Martin Owens `type(attr).__module__, type(attr).__name__` 2020-03-28 12-46-58 PDT Martin Owens Question is, how can we both be right. 2020-04-06 15-44-49 PDT Martin Owens If you feel at all like you're not able to mentor as well as you want to be able to, I can take the review. Either way works for me. 2020-03-31 11-49-48 PDT Martin Owens We have only a handful of python people. I had to ask outside of Inkscape to get an assessment of our module namespace checker. 2020-03-31 11-46-04 PDT Martin Owens The reversion should be in now for the namespaces. 2020-03-29 15-44-48 PDT Martin Owens Rename elements.base to anything you want. Even basics works there. 2020-03-28 11-46-03 PDT Martin Owens I will look online for existing solutions, 2020-03-28 12-32-40 PDT Martin Owens Weird the PEP I read said they changed it in python3 to allow for this. 2020-02-02 14-11-23 PST Martin Owens But in this case, since the bug (at least your one, not nathen's) is code logic and not evident in running, it's hard to do much about. I understand why it works, but it might not be obvious. If you can narrow down what your seeing into symptoms. Or predictions. Then other bug testers can test them for you. 2020-03-04 07-31-22 PST Martin Owens It's mostly about sounding out the release, we /need/ to get release out the door before we all die of old age. 2020-04-01 12-22-00 PDT Martin Owens I don't know what stock/effect is, is this your new directory structure? 2020-03-29 15-47-29 PDT Martin Owens I am become mess, the destroyer of beauty. 2020-03-02 14-13-29 PST Martin Owens For the latest? 2020-01-29 08-39-44 PST Martin Owens In your own time, no rush 2020-03-28 12-59-37 PDT Martin Owens Now we're cooking with rolling rocks! 2020-04-01 10-10-29 PDT Martin Owens @sizmailov I like the idea, it's been on my todo for a while, although we're about to cut 1.0 rc1 so we may wait on merging until after 1.0 if that's ok? 2020-03-29 15-44-07 PDT Martin Owens Really? 2020-03-28 12-33-29 PDT Martin Owens In python2 you couldn't subclass globals, because it asked for the C dictionary type. 2020-03-02 08-56-23 PST Martin Owens I solved one of the issues with the extensions by using a little known GitLab API url so I can always go to the latest artefact from the main project site. 2020-01-28 18-02-08 PST Martin Owens Back from my adventures in parenting 2020-03-29 15-44-24 PDT Martin Owens My review has been predicated on the renaming of inkex.base 2020-03-30 12-03-43 PDT Martin Owens So I think we're 98% safe. 2020-03-29 15-45-02 PDT Martin Owens Sorry 2020-01-31 15-50-32 PST Martin Owens You'll have to give me some space, my country has just committed a slow suicide and I'm not feeling all that great. 2020-03-28 13-20-47 PDT Martin Owens With that fix, local testing on `inkex.paths` works as expected. I added `FOO =1; FOO=2` to paths to confirm it raises as expected. 2020-04-01 12-27-14 PDT Martin Owens The last directory seems a little overkill. /effect/color/less_saturation/less_saturation.inx I think it can just be /effect/color/less_saturation.inx 2020-04-01 12-12-13 PDT Martin Owens If the code is in the core extensions repository, they shouldn't be hidden (if they are, let me know) 2020-03-29 15-46-33 PDT Martin Owens Groups has also been renamed? 2020-03-02 08-55-37 PST Martin Owens But if you'll always be available to fix it ;-) 2020-03-28 12-47-47 PDT Martin Owens Of course, my code doesn't import inkex again, it RUNS inkex/__init__.py as a script. 2020-03-28 12-42-10 PDT Martin Owens I added in some pretend collisions, picked them up. 2020-03-30 12-07-11 PDT Martin Owens I do have a seperate question for you though 2020-03-28 12-24-09 PDT Martin Owens ```

More contextual. devel is mostly C++ 2020-03-28 11-17-12 PDT Martin Owens I would move it into a test. One the API is set, it doesn't have to check every inkex load, that's Kw of energy doing nothing on thousands of computers. But having the warning in the CI builder in a test, ideal IMO. 2020-03-04 07-31-40 PST Martin Owens Your thoughts would be welcome. 2020-03-28 11-00-05 PDT Martin Owens On review, the only item from `elements/base` that people would import directly is `load_svg` 2020-01-31 16-09-15 PST Martin Owens The common disquiet as it's known. 2020-01-31 16-30-59 PST Martin Owens Indeed it is 2020-03-04 08-04-35 PST Martin Owens Merged 2020-03-02 14-08-07 PST Martin Owens See the coverage label on this page? https://gitlab.com/inkscape/extensions/ 2020-03-28 11-02-12 PDT Martin Owens A poem! 2020-02-07 08-44-04 PST Martin Owens No, just one pair of hands ;-) 2020-03-28 12-23-42 PDT Martin Owens OK I have a solution 2020-03-30 12-40-38 PDT Martin Owens The MR policy is lax, I think this is the first mistake. 2020-03-28 13-19-50 PDT Martin Owens Oh my code has a bug. `with open(inkex.__file__, 'r') as fhl` -> `with open(module.__file__, 'r') as fhl` 2020-03-29 15-28-18 PDT Martin Owens In the meantime, we can go ahead with your original MR without the checks to keep it all clean. 2020-04-01 12-20-47 PDT Martin Owens Because they are accessed via either the New from Template or the help menu 2020-03-30 12-02-49 PDT Martin Owens Yes, but underscoring modules is super rare outside of python proper. I figured I'd moved you to do something you wouldn't have done otherwise with my mistake. 2020-03-29 15-27-51 PDT Martin Owens I'm going to invite a third party who knows python to review both out solutions. I'll make a MR and I can send both links out. 2020-03-02 09-08-14 PST Martin Owens It's possible. I know I don't need a tool like this myself, because I don't interact with artefacts much. But the team that does is going to be the bug/issues team, since they like to bisect and download lots of versions. 2020-03-30 12-07-03 PDT Martin Owens I'm not sure how to break that down further. 2020-04-02 07-36-45 PDT Martin Owens If you like. Do you have a desired schedule to get it merged? 2020-03-04 07-28-20 PST Martin Owens Will you be at the meeting on Friday to discuss the 1.0 release? 2020-01-31 16-09-19 PST Martin Owens Interesting to hear. 2020-03-28 01-45-07 PDT Martin Owens There is a way 2020-02-07 08-44-36 PST Martin Owens Any chance I could get you to look at one of the items on this list: https://gitlab.com/inkscape/vectors/general/issues/136 ? 2020-01-31 15-50-05 PST Martin Owens s/busy/depressed/ 2020-01-31 16-29-43 PST Martin Owens by the way, delta is the right thing to use, it's just not scaled to the user units. 2020-03-29 15-30-31 PDT Martin Owens Yes, so long as `basics.py` is back to `base.py`, I think that was the only other issue. 2020-04-06 15-43-59 PDT Martin Owens I'm actually really impressed with your patience. Thank you for investing the time. I have the same feeling that I could have done the code, but at the same time this isn't going to fix anything really, it's a nice to have we can take our sweet time on. I'd only code it myself if Kristian went AWOL. 2020-01-31 16-03-41 PST Martin Owens Primal screams are primal screams. No one said it was supposed to /do/ anything. 2020-04-01 12-12-42 PDT Martin Owens If you mean extensions like the uniconverter extensions, those are abandoned/obsolete/rejected etc 2020-03-28 13-02-27 PDT Martin Owens Maybe add a comments about the fact this only works for setitem and not getitem? 2020-02-14 12-25-46 PST Martin Owens Thanks for the ping :-D 2020-03-29 15-43-07 PDT Martin Owens I thought `_base.py` was for `inkex/elements/base.py` I'm dead set against changing the name of `inkex/base.py` to anything. 2020-01-31 15-49-34 PST Martin Owens Hello 2020-03-04 07-29-44 PST Martin Owens Friday 6pm UTC in the developer chat 2020-04-01 12-29-57 PDT Martin Owens Each directory depth will slow inkscape's loading. 2020-03-28 10-57-50 PDT Martin Owens If a name change is required, I'd change `inkex/elements/base` rather than `inkex/base` just based on what we've asked extension developers to do when upgrading their extension. 2020-02-02 14-09-16 PST Martin Owens There's always room for perfection. I'm trying hard to make it the enemy of the good. 2020-02-07 08-42-39 PST Martin Owens I owe you those reviews, but I can't deliver right now. :-( 2020-03-28 11-00-29 PDT Martin Owens So this is reasonable so long as the import in `__init__` is the landing point for that anyway. 2020-03-04 08-05-35 PST Martin Owens Are you able to look at any of the issues on this list? https://gitlab.com/inkscape/vectors/general/issues/136 2020-03-04 08-07-52 PST Martin Owens That's probably true. If boredom strikes ;-) 2020-01-28 18-55-50 PST Martin Owens No problem, good night! 2020-03-28 11-02-39 PDT Martin Owens And I agree 2020-03-02 08-53-42 PST Martin Owens I don't think so, I could check the stats on the website if you want. 2020-03-30 12-40-25 PDT Martin Owens Agreed 2020-03-28 01-52-09 PDT Martin Owens Convert them into sets and xor them. 2020-03-28 12-45-43 PDT Martin Owens Put a print in `__setitem__` it is running and it is testing. 2020-03-28 11-33-15 PDT Martin Owens It's the same same, since `from inkex import elements; elements.__dict__` is sort of the same as `from inkex.elements import *; globals()` except you don't get python builtins in the first one (except if you want them) 2020-04-10 09-25-54 PDT Martin Owens Should be May 4th ish. The RC1 is out now, so not too long. 2020-03-02 08-55-11 PST Martin Owens Theissue I see is maint burden; one of the reasons to use GitLab (and not host our own) is to reduce the amount of stuff we have to look after ourselves. 2020-02-21 13-15-14 PST Martin Owens Thanks. I'm still working on the canvas bug. Almost a week of research and poking. How's your programming? 2020-04-10 12-53-54 PDT Martin Owens No problem, though this kind of thing should be discussed in the public channels. 2020-03-28 12-42-50 PDT Martin Owens Sorry what's the initalize once problem? (I may have missed that one, sorry) 2020-03-28 12-47-54 PDT Martin Owens That's why it works. 2020-03-28 13-16-07 PDT Martin Owens paths isn't a module directory though, so it might have collisions. 2020-03-29 15-47-48 PDT Martin Owens Right we'll get this in as is. 2020-03-28 12-24-04 PDT Martin Owens This might seem mad, but it's a small codebase and covers quite a lot of ground without repetition: 2020-03-27 19-34-45 PDT Martin Owens If you're willing to help there. That would be great. 2020-03-30 12-14-15 PDT Martin Owens I'll personally shout at anyone who uses it. But I think it's fine. 2020-03-29 15-28-42 PDT Sergei Izmailov I can withdraw "veryfy no name clash" from MR so we can address this separately 2020-03-30 12-01-18 PDT Sergei Izmailov I think it's bad decision. Looks like you ignored/didn't address my arguments.
The only use for public-available submodules of `inkex/elements/*` is `from inkex.elements.primitives import *` which is should be discouraged.
For regular imports `from inkex.elements import Group` is always preferable to `from inkex.elements.groups import Group`.
Anyhow by the of the day it's up to you. 2020-02-07 08-44-04 PST Sergei Izmailov Take you time. I'll keep pinging once a week :) 2020-03-28 12-45-30 PDT Sergei Izmailov I tried next snippet which is roughly what you have, right?

I think there should be no conflict as the only thing was changed is content of `inkex.elements` now resides in `inkex` too, so it's very limited list to check. What do you think about setting a couple of env variables in inkscape?
They can be used to enable python2-only extensions within inkscape-1.0 environment.
**Variables set by inkscape:**
```bash
INKSCAPE_SYSTEM_DIR=...
INKSCAPE_USER_DIR=...
```
Then we can turn python2 extension into a bash extension via simple wrapper script:
```bash
export PYTHONPATH="$INKSCAPE_SYSTEM_DIR/extensions/deprecated-simple:$INKSCAPE_USER_DIR/extensions"
my/path/to/python2 $@
