The hiring committee has requested that the PLC formally vote on ending the hiring project. While they don't see the process continuing and we've talked casually in meetings about the process ending; we should conclude it with a vote so the hiring team can make needed announcements without any doubts.

It's stopping the current hiring process currently already stopped.
Yes, this makes no practical sense. But the hiring committee wants our vote that says everyone can wrap up, do an announcement saying that we've stopped and tell anyone asking that the status of this round of hiring is stopped. It's a confidence vote.
