But there's a difference: current layer does not affect what you see on the screen, but visibility does.
Besides, is it really useful to have two different pages viewed in two different windows with the same document? What will this buy you?
But apart from that, if we do decide to implement non-global visibility, how do we go about it? Show/hide arena items directly without touching SPObjects? This does not sound too elegant to me, although doable.
