What I've done in the past is take the various bits (animations, music
etc) and create the required formats that say openshot saves to and just
use python to make one with all the right bits in it.
One useful trick I learned doing screencasting with
gtk-record-my-desktop was to pause instead of stop and run the audio
in /tmp through audacity for background noise removal before pressing
stop and having the video and audio bound together.
