Ping! Welcome Inkscape UI team and interested parties [UI]
Hi! Was great to talk with everyone who made it to the LGM Inkscape UI meeting. In the interests of keeping the newly formed Inkscape UI group momentum going, I'm posting this welcome message. Please note that at all Inkscape UI group messages should include "[UI]" in the title (without quotes) so developers can elect to filter it to reduce noise from the UI team if desired.
Martin is presently hard at work getting the gallery system updated and ready as a working space for UI discussions and mockups.
I will do my best to keep everyone informed about the progress of everything as information becomes available.
Thanks again to Martin for setting up a friendly custom workspace for us to play. :)

Ping back!
Thanks for the great and friendly meeting in London. I just got back home from LGM and ready for start with the work we agreed at the meeting. I'm preparing a draft of the UI team Designer document with suggested objectives and workflow and will share it here to be reviewed so we can work on the manifesto. I've also learned how to compile the current version of Inkscape with Cmake (thanks Jabiertxo!)
Thanks again!

Hi there!
One question: Is this new Inkscape UI team dedicated to Inkscape's UI or also the website's layout?
Best regards,
Sebastian

One question: Is this new Inkscape UI team dedicated to Inkscape's UI or also the website's layout?
Not at the moment. Our focus is on providing the development branch with UI design plans and related documents for Inkscape. This will constitute a great deal work and discussion and I think our focus should be on providing a better user experience for the application itself at this point.

Sorry, I realise I didn't quite answer the question properly: UI team is currently responsible for Inkscape UI only, not the website.

I've registered an IRC channel for the group, so join us on freenode at #inkscape-ui

Hi Sebastian,
Website work is quite graphical overall, please continue to participate in the inkscape-web branches/bug-tracker for the website stuff.
Best regards, Martin Owens
As promised, this is the video from the presentation of the LibreOffice Design team. It could be a great reference on how the UI team could work. They are very friendly and probably will help us find an efficient workflow that works for us.

I am currently working on the responsibilities of the team as we agreed (totally inspired by libreoffice) and including some of the topics of the meeting we had. I would like to share the draft to be edited, how do you usually do that, through the Wiki or in an external app like Firepad?

Thanks Xaviju,
You can use the website for that too, there's a pastebin. But the wiki is also a good place. We want to have a record of these things so either one is good. An external app is more likely to get lost.
Thanks for your hard work. The Gallery changes we want are in progress too. So I'll present the website soon maybe in a video for review (I expect changes as we develop the workflow).
Best Regards, Martin Owens
