Windows Properties > Start in "C:\Program Files\Inkscape\etc"
Hi Friends, A recent post in the forum asks why \etc should be the Start In location for Inkscape installed on Windows.

Pretty much everything is already said in that topic, so I won't make so much noise repeating it. But I'll be glad to relay the answer, in case whoever has the answer isn't a forum member :-)
(Also glad to make a bug report, if it's needed.)
Thank you very much, brynn

I don't think the modified working directory should cause any issues, but it's not set to /etc on purpose.
I found the source of the issue [1] (should be exclusive to the .exe installer). The NSIS function "CreateShortcut" uses the current output directory as working directory for the generated shortcut (and Inkscape/etc is the last folder we wrote to at this point).
I'll fix it for 0.92.2.
Regards, Eduard
P.S. Developers have their hands full with digging through the bugs filed in Launchpad as it is. No time to visit forums. :-D Might be worth a thought to motivate the forum users to file their bugs there (always a good idea as notes in forums / the mailing list tend to fall into oblivion). Otherwise thank you very much for relaying. ;-)

Thank you Eduard!
Generally we do suggest filing bugs at LP, after we're more or less convinced something is (A) a bug in the first place, and (B) not a duplicate bug. But in this case, we weren't sure if it was a bug or not. Plus, in this case, I volunteered to relay the question to the list, because the member didn't want to subscribe just to ask one question.
But if I find what I think is a bug on my own, I often will ask (on the user list) to make sure it's a bug and not a duplicate. That's because I have such bad luck searching LP.
Anyway, thanks again :-)
