Website/Wiki/News outlets: Updates for 0.92.2 (not released yet!)
Dear Translators,
for the pending release of Inkscape 0.92.2, there are already a couple of texts available for us to work on:
Website --------
On the website, the news article can already be translated at: https://inkscape.org/en/news/unpublished/833/ (when the article is published, you can also access it from the inkscape.org front page). Clicking on Save will not publish the translation, when the original isn't published yet. When the English version is then published, any existing translations will be published, too.
Website CMS pages will probably also require adaptation, unless the releases app is ready for the release (I'm not sure here, but currently it looks more like we'll need to work on the CMS pages, just like last time).
Wiki ----
And we've also got some release notes for 0.92.2 in the Wiki: http://wiki.inkscape.org/wiki/index.php/Release_notes/0.92.2 Translating these is some work, but it's also very interesting, if you want to know more details about all the progress that has been made (and why you should update to 0.92.2 when it's out!)
Please send a message to this mailing list or to me directly if you would like to get access to the Wiki or to the Website News, to help with the tasks.
News spreading --------------
If you can help with spreading the news in your language, please visit: https://gitlab.com/inkscape/inkscape-vectors/press/issues/1 to see if there are already news outlets on the list for your language, and add a comment, to claim one or more of the to-do items.
If you know of one that is missing in the list, please comment on the issue, give a link and a way how to contact the corresponding outlet.
IMPORTANT: Please do NOT post or publish any news anywhere just yet, Inkscape 0.92.2 hasn't been released yet! Wait for the official announcements on the user or development mailing lists!
Btw. did you see the new icon for website translators team here: https://inkscape.org/en/teams/ ? It was made by Tim Jones (https://inkscape.org/en/~TimJones) who designed a set of beautiful headgear icons for the listed teams.
Thank you very much everyone + happy translating!
Kind Regards, Maren
Hi Maren,
The Download pages have been replaced by the Release page, but it is not translated. Even the ‘Download’ menu is English on the French front page. Is this the expected behavior?

Hi Sylvain,
no, it's just a temporary thing. Martin has put in some redirects, but the old pages are still in their old location, and I'm hoping they'll be moved to a different place, so we can make a proper, new redirect with our own languages, and the old outdated pages can no longer be reached by following old, outdated links on other websites.
Meanwhile, I've just updated all shields to contain the new version number and to lead directly to the new releases page.
(so: wait a bit, it's going to be cleared up, and I'll send out a message when I know)
Kind Regards, Maren

Temporary… But still there — :P.
I’ve translated the news article, the readme, and also the old readme for 0.91 which was only partially translated: http://wiki.inkscape.org/wiki/index.php/Release_notes/0.91/fr
I’ll soon work on the unfinished translation of the readme for 0.48.
Kind regards,
Sylvain

Hi Sylvain,
great to see you around, even if only temporarily :)
I've copy-pasted the release notes for 0.91 (French) into the releases app on the website, so your work is now available at https://inkscape.org/fr/release/0.91/
Thank you very much for helping Inkscape with your work, these have really been large chunks :)
Kind Regards, Maren
-----------
@ Wiki user Hashimo: Are the Japanese release notes for 0.91 (available at http://wiki.inkscape.org/wiki/index.php/Release_notes/0.91/ja) complete, too? Then I'd paste them on the website, too.

How did you do that? Didn't find where any content of the dynamic content of the releases app could be translated yet.

At the very bottom of the interface for entering release data, there's a field for release notes translations (rather, two, one for language, one for contents). This field is 'old', i.e. it has not been added during the recent update work.
Translations in any language that exists on the website can be added.
I copied the html from the Wiki (while not logged in, so as to avoid copy-pasting 'Edit' links).
(I pasted and updated the German ones, too, of course)
As with all the fields, images are an issue. As long as the Wiki exists and responds to requests, it will work (except for the browser warning about the SSL encryption, that breaks because the Wiki images come from another domain and are deemed not safe. I'm hoping it will be possible to automatically download the images that are already there to the inkscape-web server, so browser warnings won't be given. I do not want to do that manually, it's a hellish work, and totally automatable.)
Kind Regards, Maren

Thanks Maren, I think I would have never found that without your help! As the release page list all the release platforms (a long list!) I somehow never thought to scroll to the bottom...
There are no translations for the release platforms yet, but I think Martin mentioned that before, so I assume that will be taken care of eventually.
Regarding copy/pasting from the Wiki: You can stay logged in ([edit] links are excluded from the selection, at least for me in Firefox). I was more concerned about the classes and other stuff that's copied verbatim from the HTML source, too, but I thing we got lucky: Apparently we do not use any of those names on the website, so it worked without even filtering those out!
Regards, Eduard

Hi again,
seems I'm not going to get an answer any time soon.
But you can do the following:
1. Visit https://inkscape.org/en/admin/cms/page/ 2. Click on the 'Page settings' icon in the row for 'Download (old)' 3. Select the tab for your language 4. Change the slug (e.g. by appending _old, or _obsolete) and save. 5. Go back to https://inkscape.org/en/admin/cms/page/ 6. Click on the Page settings icon in the row for 'Download' 7. Select the tab for your language (note: it is not highlighted in any way when selected, make doubly sure you've got the right one) 8. Enter a title and slug (probably those that were displayed in step 4, that's why they had to be changed), save. 9. Go to advanced settings. 10. Enter 'releases' into the URL overwrite field and save.
Only ten steps... :-/ Took me some trial and error to figure that out, hope the webmaster won't disagree with the way it's done.
Don't copy from the English page's settings this time.
I have no clue why that one works at all ('release' is not in the urls for the project, only 'releases' is), but perhaps there's some redirect hidden somewhere.
Kind Regards, Maren
