Thanks for this introduction and cool links (below) — but the videos do not work for me, I always get ‘Sorry, there was a problem loading this video. Please try refreshing the page.’ and I can only see the static pictures. Keep believing in free software, the open and open-minded world!

According to the statistics (may be outdated as the most recent date is July 1st): https://inkscape.org/en/doc/devel/translations-statistics-trunk.html almost 50% of the Inkscape program's strings need a translation or an update, and some tutorials lack a Brazilian Portuguese translation (it's even worse for European Portuguese). Thus Maren it might be at least as important as the website? I think it's not too late to submit translations for Inkscape 0.92; jazzynico merged some new translations by me ten days ago.

I visited https://code.launchpad.net/~inkscape-webadmin/inkscape-web/translations but didnt find out where the .po files are.
I agree, Launchpad is not clear sometimes. It's a small link ‘Browse the code’ on the left, near the top.

I'm Designer, graduated in 2015, live in São Paulo but born in Piauí. I'm using open source applications frequently since 2013, when I bought a notebook which since the end of 2015 is running Linux; first Ubuntu, after Fedora and now Manjaro Gnome. Many of my school works were made part or entirely with open source, not only Inkscape but Libreoffice, Krita, Blender and Gimp too. There are links to some works I did below. In the school the crew besides being using pirates Adobe packages they mocked me because I was using Inkscape instead Illustrator. XD I believe in the applications I use, and as a translator I'll be helping to make easier to brazilian people know them. Also Inkscape has some lacks some features which make it less used for average brazilian Designers than Illustrator and Corel Draw, then I subscribed me to the testers team too. :)

To retrieve the code, follow the instructions at launchpad itself.
Or you can also use a graphical user interface for bazaar, like Bazaar explorer.
However, this is not at all necessary. You can just attach the updated po file to a bug report for inkscape-web here:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape-web, or even send it via the mailing list. We will then check if it doesn't contain any syntax errors, and commit it to the repository.

Yeah, once you've installed Bazaar, you just need 3 commands, it's quite easy. First, you need to checkout the trunk of the repository you want:
$ bzr co lp:inkscape # or inkscape-docs or inkscape-web
then translate, and after follow the instructions on the wiki.
However, this is not at all necessary. You can just attach the updated po file to a bug report for inkscape-web here:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape-web, or even send it via the mailing list. We will then check if it doesn't contain any syntax errors, and commit it to the repository.

The ‘Submit finish work’ section suggests the bug report option (works for inkscape and inkscape-docs too). Maybe a mail to the list may be considered as an option, but when I wrote this I thought it wasn't really appreciated. I'm correcting that right now. -- Sylvain

Thanks for refactoring, it's better now.
I don't know if the mailing list thing would be appropriate for non-inkscape-web translations, that's why I put it onto our page (and to save people some hopping around between pages).

If we receive some PO file for inkscape or inkscape-docs, I can still propose it via a merge request, so from my point of view it's quite okay.
Concerning the hops, personally, my main fear is redundancy (even though it was very little here)! I think translators should focus on the software and the tutorials first so that people speaking their language can use Inkscape; thus they must learn how to deal with PO files. When they reach the website's PO, it's cool to see that the process is clearly the same (actually there's a small difference: you must ask for new languages to be added).
Diego, actually there are some previous steps if you want to use Bazaar; I had forgotten them: http://wiki.inkscape.org/wiki/index.php/Working_with_Bazaar#First_steps (so yes, we have some internal doc about it).
