Why is it called envelope deformation?
Hi, I'm trying to come up with a good translation to spanish of the term "Envelope deformation" but I can't find any information on why it is called like that. Does it have anything to do with an envelope you use to send a letter (by snail mail)? Or maybe it has more to do with the verb "envelope" as in "wrap around" or "surround". Maybe it's someone's name.

No it is not someone's name it has to do with both the things you've mentioned - wrapping around or surrounding - and an envelope to send a letter is about 'wrapping around the letter'. Envelope deformations are about changing the shape of the object by putting it or 'forcing it' inside an envelope.

Perhaps another way to explain it would be an envelope is like a container, and whatever you put inside the container most conform to it's shape. You may want to see how they translate Envelope in audio programs like Audacity perhaps (it's a similar concept there).

Hi.
Maybe "Blend shape"or "Tween shape"would be good equvivalents in english since 2 shapes are "blended" or interpolated to create a 3rd?

Sorry. I was wrong. The top shape is modified to fit inside the bottom shape. No 3rd shape is made. So Marcin has the best explanation...
