[with the right ml address, sorry for the delay]
Hi all !
After the issue on 1.4.1 which prevents offering it to mac, we discussed the plan to release a 1.4.2 with few fix soon, which will mostly contain changes from 1.4.1 and a few additional fixes.
Ideally, we will make it ready for the beginning of may, to be announced and made available on the day vectors will see preferable :)
Hence,
- we are now in string freeze for development (easy to check fixes can still be merged if they don't break strings) - I'll merge translations done on translate.inkscape.org (1.4.x) or in-repo doc updates on May 7th and generate installers on May 8th
If there is any concern, feel free to voice them, we can adapt.
Thanks everyone !

Hi there, I may have missed this, but I was wondering when we moved to weblate for translations. I welcome the change as it will make the whole process much easier for us who don't use gitlab frequently. Do we just create a new account there, or do are our inkscape.org credentials just work there too?
Thank you, and kind regards, -- *Lucas Vieites https://namedrop.io/lucasvieites* Blog @ codexion.com https://blog.codexion.com/ LinkedIn https://www.linkedin.com/in/lucasvieites

Hi Lucas,
If you have a Gitlab account, you can use that to log in our Weblate instance. We don't have our own SSO yet so the Inkscape account alone won't work.
Regards, Willy (ltlnx)

Hi Lucas,
yes, we're still polishing things, so have not announced it publicly / widely yet. Consider it in testing phase.
You can already try it out at translate.inkscape.org , and we expect it to work for pure translations, but other functionality still seems to need some setup (email doesn't work - so having teams and reviews cannot fully work yet, signup form that should not be available is available, links to code on Gitlab don't work, ...).
We also still need to coordinate responsibilities and git commands a bit.
Happy translating!

hi all, just to confirm that access to inkscape/ weblate is operationalwith my github id. I m here for the first time but Weblate interface is standard among projects so that it is very easy to navigate. I 've had a look on FR work and added translations and did some rereading since yesterday. I guess only kernel messages are under weblate but i was directed here because of web pages/tutorials containing translated/not translated sections. As i will focuson this part I think tutorial translations will follow gitlab checkout/commit standard process. Christian Wia.

I confirm it worked with gitlab credentials (for now).

I am experienced with Weblate from Vivaldi browser and LibreOffice, where sometimes I work offline and the sync my work afterwards, no problems there.

Hi,
This can be mitigated by translating the partial (just untranslated) part of the catalog. Works well for me on ~50KB file.
Hope this helps.
Best regards, Yuri

It appears that the Weblate server can't handle the full PO-catalog (~1.5MB). Any hope this can be addressed?
While sending in a 120kB partial (untranslated) file works fine (except perhaps for new languages or languages with few translated strings?), this is a showstopper if one has to review spelling and terms widespread in various already translated strings.

(fixed, upload limit is now 10MB)

Thank you, Marc!
The corresponding ticket is here, I guess it can be closed now: https://gitlab.com/inkscape/infra/services/-/issues/54

Hi Cristi,
seems that's caused by a setting that isn't optimal on the server yet. We're taking it step by step and eliminating issues as they pop up.
I've researched and reported yours here: https://gitlab.com/inkscape/infra/services/-/issues/54

Important update on Weblate!
Hi everyone,
I've been doing some reviewing and checking out of our new weblate server and its settings.
While doing so, I've noticed that the Weblate server hasn't been using the latest translation files for the 1.4.x branch (likely for master branch, too, but I did not look into that).
It does so now, thanks to some late weekend work by Marc, which adds 57 strings to 1.4.x that need your help (and mine, too).
Additionally, the due date for translations submitted by weblate is 1 day earlier than it says in Marc's email below, because your changes are collected into 24-hour-packages by weblate before they are turned into a commit.
So the due date for submissions via weblate would be May 6th.
Please keep on testing the new server, so we can see what else needs to be adjusted!
Happy translating, Maren
