Website: New page + changes
Dear website translators,
Tav needs support for his travels to the SVG working group meetings, so we've now got a new page asking for donations for this specific purpose:
https://inkscape.org/en/support-us/svg_working_group/
Also, a link + text have been added to the 'Support Us' page:
https://inkscape.org/en/support-us/
(a news item for this will be added in a couple of days)
Hope you'll all have some nice holidays (and maybe still find some time for translating ;) ),
kind regards, Maren
Merry Christmas to all the inkscape translation community! SVG Standards and Support Page updated for Portuguese I was also trying to update your last requested page About > Governance which never got around to translate, but I have been having trouble doing that one. I can't copy plugins from English for that page without getting this error "*The following error occured: You do not have permission to copy these plugins.*"
Also two small complaints/warnings/advice for other translators about workflow in general. During the translations made today I lost my work twice (and a few times more recently ) due to undesirable behavior of the website.
1. When editing internal links plugin from the dialog, accidentally pressing enter to confirm totally exits editing of the page confirming links edited but loosing all other non-link text translations made to that point. To clarify under Firefox if I press enter while editing a link from the dedicated popup dialog the current (and all other) links edited are committed but changes to the regular text are all lost and the content is saved, exiting editing retuning the page to ready-to-publish mode. 2. While translating for extended periods of times the session often expires making you loose your un-submitted work unless you manually copy the page source before committing, so you can go back and paste it again.
This is very discouraging for website maintainers and a real pain for contributors.
Anyway happy holidays to all, enjoy your Christmas :)

Hi Duarte,
wishing you (and everyone else on this list who celebrates it) a Merry Christmas, too!
I've copied the page for you - weirdly, I think it doesn't contain any plugins that could cause this... There aren't even any links on that page, only simple text.
Did it specify which plugins you don't have permission to copy?
- When editing internal links plugin from the dialog, accidentally pressing enter to confirm totally exits editing of the page confirming links edited but loosing all other non-link text translations made to that point. To clarify under Firefox if I press enter while editing a link from the dedicated popup dialog the current (and all other) links edited are committed but changes to the regular text are all lost and the content is saved, exiting editing retuning the page to ready-to-publish mode.
- Confirmed. When hitting Enter while the focus is in a text field (of any plugin, not just links), the dialog will be closed and no normal text will be saved. All plugins that have been created and confirmed are visible in structure mode, but not available in the page's source, so can't even be deleted again (without access to database...). I'll create a bug report in inkscape-web, so we'll be able to follow up on this when there's time (https://bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape-web/+bug/1529252).
- While translating for extended periods of times the session often expires making you loose your un-submitted work unless you manually copy the page source before committing, so you can go back and paste it again.
- This never happened to me... Probably because I save often, even when I'm not yet done. What amount of time are we talking about? Do you have an estimate?
I'm very sorry you lost work because of these bugs :/
Thanks for reporting them here, and for your translations, Duarte!
Kind regards, Maren

Not exactly sure about the precise amount of time it takes until session expires, anywhere between one to a couple of hours maybe. It happened last night while editing a link plugin and the login screen actually even appeared inside the popup where the link editing dialog should be. It has happened before under different circumstances, maybe it's some sort of glitch since I don't think enough time had passed to actually close the session. Either way, whatever the situation after successfully logging in either page gets redirected, or saving ends up failing anyway resulting in work loss.
Anyway, thanks for reporting those bugs, don't worry about it, I'll try and update the remaining Portuguese pages later tonight.

Hi Duarte (and everyone),
Martin writes he has fixed the auto-logout (https://bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape-web/+bug/1529260). To profit from this, you should delete all your inkscape.org cookies (and log in again).
Please report if the problem occurs again (or if it doesn't after extensive editing. If it's inconsistent, it will be hard to determine, though, whether it's fixed or not...).
Thanks! Maren

Thanks for the fix, much appreciated. Still can't make the translation to Portuguese of About>Governance https://inkscape.org/en/about/governance/ I had already created the page slug and title successfully in the past, but whenever I navigate there under edit mode the page is naturally blank (no content), I switch to structure editing and try to copy plugins from English (there are quite a links and one text plugin) it always says *"The following error occured:* You do not have permission to copy these plugins." in a small popup, no other message or information is shown.
If you could just do that small step for me I could keep on working on the translation.
Thanks again, Duarte

- Oh, sorry - I misread and thought you were referring to the updated budget page, because that was the last one that was updated... and it's in the governance section, too :( Thanks for clarifying.
The linked governance page *does* of course contain a few plugins, and it seems it was the file plugin that didn't work for you (at least I hope I found the reason, after a lot of comparing permissions). It's a pity that django-cms isn't a little more verbose here.
I've edited permissions for the translators group you're in and hope that it works now. Could you test, please?
(Although I wonder how it worked for Sylvain - the French version of the page is translated, and he's in the same group... maybe someone copied it before he started...)

Probably because I save often, even when I'm not yet done. What amount of time are we talking about? Do you have an estimate? I'm very sorry you lost work because of these bugs :/ Thanks for reporting them here, and for your translations, Duarte! Working fine now, I just copied the plugins successful, I'll start the actual translations some other time. Thanks again and sorry for all the trouble.
- Great! :D
No trouble at all, Duarte, - thanks for reporting the problems and testing - and for translating (all this on Christmas!) :)

Haha no problem, Inkscape website posed a pleasant respite for the more calm moments in the season's family meetings and celebrations.

Still got logged out once while editing, luckily I was in the reviewing phase, had already saved most of the work so I only lost a few proofing revisions. This was probably 1h30 to 2 hours into translation work maybe, too bad the edits aren't cached in the browser's store to avoid losses. Anyway I'll start saving more often and always copy source to clipboard before saving.

Hi Duarte,

- Yay! :D

- Ah, that's too bad... :/
Could you come over to the bug report on launchpad (https://bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape-web/+bug/1529260), so we can 'extract' a little more info from you? ;)
We might need details from your sessionid cookie (**not the id!** but the expiry date would be good - you had deleted all the old ones before you edited again, right?).
Thanks :)
Kind regards, Maren
