This is still done incipiently. Always has motivated people to
translate, but during some stage of the process, leave. Here comes
another person and starts making a whole work of revision and
terminology, and consequently abandoned.
To ensure a quality translation in Portuguese Brazil, we have adopted
a wiki[1] that indicates how the terms should be translated more
common.
You can also ask questions through the list or inkscape-brasil[2] and
collaborate directly in the file .po
or by the platform:

want to make students of Information Systems learn English by
software/documentation translation, so, I came to as you if you need help on
pt_BR translation, who I need to talk to know how it will be done and, then,
