Hi Jean-Marc,

The approach is more flexible in Inkscape as a spline remains a

Isn't a path vectorized, as well?
But Inkscape supports masks ! You can define a vector object as a mask. For
example use a circle as a mask for a box so it has a hole, a bit like
include/exclude in CAD.
I'm still using Inkscape 0.42, because I'm having difficulties to upgrade
from Ubuntu "Breezy" to "Edgy" (where newer libraries are available),
but I'm really waiting to try the latest Inkscape version (masks? wow!)
with new features like the Gaussian Blur, etc.
I basically stumbled onto this approach (bitmap editing) after using a
demo version of discreet's paint*.
Thanks,
Claus
