I don't think it's rev #20438, Actually I'm compiling all versions between a specified range.
Me too
I can said today that #20433 is not crashing and #20437 is crashing. (tested with the same file : tango_icons_new-1.15.svg)
then I guess we are working on a different crasher. Mine is a bit more hidden as it only crashes from within gdb.
It seems I made a mistake in updating from some version to 20437, so I'm not so sure anymore that the bug is caused by 20438. I'm sorry.

Finally I found the targeted revision, it's rev #20436:
* fix bug in livarot where open paths are rendered as closed path when start == end point. now svg testsuite paths-data-10-t.svg is rendered correctly
Now I'm trying to debug inskcape with eclipse by following the eclipse tutorial http://wiki.inkscape.org/wiki/index.php/Using_Eclipse. But I think you are right as my crash is not hidden, it is reproducible witout being in gdb.

I think I fixed the big bug in rev. 20532. So it is safe again to download the nightly builds (from tomorrow or so).
Cheers, Johan

Thanks a lot :) I can now use Inkscape from SVN as usual again and I see no more rendering test crashes.
