Hello, I update the SpiroLive branch to redraw spiro when mouse stop, no gaps now.
In my 5 years old computer -debian- spiro redraw ok, now better whith the tolerance fix.
If isn't enoft we can increase the tolerance level. Less tolerance show more fluid spiros, more tolerance spiro curve "jumps" more.
I dont want to add a botton to show optionaly, because i think this function is basic while drawing, but if we decide to make optional y start whith this.
Any more betatester ;) ?

also I was every here and there in China in the meantime across few chinese provinces very impressed by the speed of progress (4 years ago everything was ...way back on the past ...)
back in topic - today I hope to finish my upgrade from Maya to Nadia so give me the path for the new branch we should talk about the "on canvas" ..general usability points we need for new controls [oops new on-canvas controls ?] and the point / node workflow
non familiar users (with splines) will try hard to use bezier modifiers - so bezier modifiers should not be there at all ..that mean we need to offer a compensation - they will not make the mental link to use node types in the first second - therefore maybe we can add a new button in toolbar - Spiro Spline. From the start any user can use this tool to create spiro splines NOT pnly options presented under other line drawing tools (probably one want to create a spiro spline after he open a new file - why he can't have this option directly on toolbox ..without the need to use another 2 clicks)
I think it's time to make a mockup about this ..new tool

I propose to merge SpiroLive Branch.
If anybody can translate the code coments in spanich to english in src/pen-context.cpp and in the lang files .po, are welcome. SpiroLive is the first step necesary to go to BSpline edditing. Now i focus in the recently created branch BSpline. Any help are welcome.
The first problem whith bspline is: BSpline are created by rect lines joined by a cusp node. This is perfect but i have a problem, i need a special node CUSP but flaged diferent than the normal CUSP node. I need it for handle cusp nodes in the final BSpline.
I find a way but i don find another way better: BSpline mode normal created by a CUSP node BSpline mode CUSP created by a node not CUSP whith 1 point distance handle/s

Hi, I'm spanish so I'm going to help a little bit translating these spanish coments to english ;)
Which .po files need also to be translated ? I'm not very used to the .po translations system so if you point me out which files need to be translated also would save me some time.
PD: Just to make completely sure, you are talking about the BSpline branch in launchpad ( https://code.launchpad.net/~jabiertxof/inkscape/BSpline ) right ?

I've translated the pen-context.cpp file. I attach the diff file with the last pen-context.cpp from the BSpline branch in inkscape launchpad.
I don't understand what needs to be translated in the .po files since all I found in spanish were in code comments and the .po files contain strings that are showed by the program right ? Since all the spanish content was only code comments i understand there is no need to modify any .po files but correct me if i'm wrong ;)
Everything all right ? I hope my tiny contributions are useless to that great project inkscape is !

I dont want to add a botton to show optionaly, because i think this function is basic while drawing, but if we decide to make optional y start whith this. Hi to all.
Updated BSpline branch whith latest SpiroLive code, and added a new Live Effect called "BSpline".
It made a cusp node for not rect incoming curve, and made BSpline node for rect incoming curves.
Now start working whith the ui to act like Spiro.

I propose to merge SpiroLive Branch.
If anybody can translate the code coments in spanich to english in src/pen-context.cpp and in the lang files .po, are welcome. SpiroLive is the first step necesary to go to BSpline edditing. Now i focus in the recently created branch BSpline. Any help are welcome.
The first problem whith bspline is: BSpline are created by rect lines joined by a cusp node. This is perfect but i have a problem, i need a special node CUSP but flaged diferent than the normal CUSP node. I need it for handle cusp nodes in the final BSpline.
I find a way but i don find another way better: BSpline mode normal created by a CUSP node BSpline mode CUSP created by a node not CUSP whith 1 point distance handle/s

on my vision - 3 keyboard controls we will need to use when we define the shape using the mouse movement
- a key for switching the node type - a key to reverse the direction of the curve (when we move the cursor) - a key to change the line type ( line / curve ) - from the last created node to the next "node to be created" ..
then - probably the final step will be an icon for spiro tool on the main tool-bar.

About the tree keyboards sortcuts my opinion is:
*A key for switching the node type, I think is confusing for real usage. Anybody opinion?
*A key to reverse the direction of the curve, is not posibol because the spiro spline dont have this posibility, It go by the position of the points whit a fixed direction.
*The last is beatiful. What do you think about CTRL+SHIFT?

I have BSpline branch just to go but i have a problem: When create the curve for BSPline it store the data but when move a point or when aply BSpline liveEffect manualy, the data saved is diferent. I create the original node by SPCurve->moveto and curveto but it store it in relative instead absolute -i think but not sure-. I check punting Geom::abs to the points and the same.
